How many sacks did the Packers get in '10 from the LB position opposite of Clay?

The scheme that Capers has put together means that we don't necessarily need two beasts on each side. Every player has their purpose and they cannot all be rushing. Our real key to success is our corners coming off the edge and making plays. I don't feel like we need another Clay on the other side, would be nice, but a bit hard to imagine any team pulling off that awesome of a tandem.

They had 8 - Zombo 4, Walden 3, and Poppinga 1.

If Matthews goes down, the packers are in trouble. But you can say that for any team, even the teams that have two great pass rushers. The colts would be in trouble without Freeney, despite having Mathis. You think Pitts would be near the defense without Harrison, even though they have Woodley. Loosing a good player is going to hurt no matter what.

However, there are still ways to compensate. The Jets are a very good defense and do not have even one quality pass rusher. Dom Capers blitz scheme is based on getting pressure without premier passrushers.

I have high hopes for Ricky Elmore in the future.

This year it is going to be heavy competition.
Poppinga's salary puts him at a huge disadvantage.
Any injury puts a player at a serious disadvantage.

The player smart enough to learn Matthews spot and can play both
will be ahead, any that can learn the middle spots gets an advantage.

OLB's

Matthews
Zombo, Walden, Jones
Elmore

ILB's

Bishop, Hawk, Chillar, Barnett

I feel sorry for a guy like Robert Francois facing a huge uphill battle.

The guys that don't make it will likely find work in Detroit amking the Lions better.

I find it interesting so many seem to have high hopes for Elmore even though he was drafted so late and you never hear about the LB the Packers drafted right before him LB D.J. Smith.

I'm thinking Barnett or Chillar or both are gone... or not on the 53 man roster at the start of the year.

And Jones could be moving to ILB (or so rumor has it)

I think the Packers try not to look at salary when judging the best 53 guys they're going to keep. So I don't think salary is a big factor... but I do question if Barnett could emotional handle being the back-up... and keep it off twitter... but don't know if Barnett and Chillar are fully healthy or not...

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
