Harrison, on what he'd have done had the Steelers won Super Bowl XLV and Goodell presented him the trophy:

On Clay Mathews:

On Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison:

On his defensive coordinator, Dick Lebeau, who (according to Harrison) coaches his players to make these illegal hits:

"That's what we're told by Coach LeBeau — blow through the guy, not to him. When the fines came down he said, 'Don't change a damn thing.' You're doing it the way we do it on this team."

On Brian Cushing:

"That boy is juiced out of his mind."

On Roger Goodell, after a meeting Harrison had in November 2010 with Goodell, executive vice president Ray Anderson and the league's director of football operations, Merton Hanks (again, via Deadspin):

Harrison goes on to describe Goodell as "Faggot Goodell," a "punk," a "dictator." He says Anderson is "another dummy who never played a down," and he says Hanks, a former Pro Bowler for the 49ers, "needs to be ashamed because he played D before, though he never was what you'd call a real hitter." The league, Harrison says, targets the Steelers because they have "too much force, too much swag, and are predominantly black."

I don't know how anyone that watches football can say that Clay is all hype. James Harrison must not watch football or defensive film for that matter... he appears to watch stats, and not be impressed by 13.5 sacks in 14.5 games. Clay's impact is undeniable, and accompanied by other pass rush threats next year he will dominate even more.

If coach LeBeau is actually telling his players to break the rules, then fines should be directed his way as well.

Though I believe that James Harrison may be out of his mind, I appreciate that he called out Rodney Harrison. I remember him as a constantly frustrating dirty player, and if he criticizes others for being even close to what he was then he is being pretty hypocritical.

However, even if James Harrison got one thing right, the Steelers would be wise to shut him up quick.

Did anyone catch what Greg Jennings and Clay Matthews said in response to Harrison's interview when they were asked about it at the ESPY's? I saw it come up on ESPN but my girlfriend wouldn't shut up about something or another. I ended up not hearing what either her or Jennings/Matthews said. I also tried a google search and could only find Harrison's quotes.

I didn't know Jennings was asked about it. Just guessing but he probably took the high road. If Harrison was going to get a response out of anyone it would be Clay(since the comments were about him), but Matthews didn't offer up much IMO.

Harrison is a fool.

I kind of question the Cushing comment. James' team doc got busted with 6 figures worth of PEDs. Maybe that is the problem with Harrison, roid rage.

I expect Goodell to remain professional about it. If Harrison continues to make malicious hits he will continue to pay for them reasonably. I'm now curious whether he'll be making such hits as a Steeler or as a part of a team that is more accepting of players with his 'character' (Cinci?, Houston?, Oakland?). I've heard the Rooney family doesn't mess around.

It is like he's going before the parole board. They want the parolee to show he accepts responsibility for his actions instead of blaming every one else. Harrison is blaming Goodell, proving he doesn't get it.

But I would expect if Harrison had said, "I know that safety of the player is the point of all this. I don't want to hurt anyone and I learned my lesson." He wouldn't get nailed so hard next time he speared someone in the head. Goodell would probably be a little more forgiving for borderline hit.

Now there is no chance of anything except maximum penalty.
