http://www.stampedeblue.com/2011/7/13/2274435/quotes-from-james-harrisons-interview-in-mens-journal-interview

Harrison, on what he'd have done had the Steelers won Super Bowl XLV and Goodell presented him the trophy:

"I'd have whispered in his ear, 'Why don't you quit and do something else, like start your own league in flag football?' "

On Clay Mathews:

"Clay Matthews, who's all hype — he had a couple of three-sack games in the first four weeks and was never heard from again — I'm quite sure I saw him put his helmet on Michael Vick and never paid a dime. But if I hit Peyton Manning or Tom Brady high, they'd have fucked around and kicked me out of the league."

On Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison:

"I hate those motherfuckers, especially those two clowns [Rodney Harrison and Teddy Bruschi] who talked about me after the fines. ... Sayin' I'm dirty — shit, Harrison was the dirtiest player ever, a steroid cheater who was known by the whole world to be a headhunter and late hitter. And Bruschi's an idiot, straight-up simple. I'd like to meet them both in a dark alley."

On his defensive coordinator, Dick Lebeau, who (according to Harrison) coaches his players to make these illegal hits:

"That's what we're told by Coach LeBeau — blow through the guy, not to him. When the fines came down he said, 'Don't change a damn thing.' You're doing it the way we do it on this team."

On Brian Cushing:

"That boy is juiced out of his mind."

On Roger Goodell, after a meeting Harrison had in November 2010 with Goodell, executive vice president Ray Anderson and the league's director of football operations, Merton Hanks (again, via Deadspin):

Harrison goes on to describe Goodell as "Faggot Goodell," a "punk," a "dictator." He says Anderson is "another dummy who never played a down," and he says Hanks, a former Pro Bowler for the 49ers, "needs to be ashamed because he played D before, though he never was what you'd call a real hitter." The league, Harrison says, targets the Steelers because they have "too much force, too much swag, and are predominantly black."

I don't know how anyone that watches football can say that Clay is all hype. James Harrison must not watch football or defensive film for that matter... he appears to watch stats, and not be impressed by 13.5 sacks in 14.5 games. Clay's impact is undeniable, and accompanied by other pass rush threats next year he will dominate even more.

If coach LeBeau is actually telling his players to break the rules, then fines should be directed his way as well.

Though I believe that James Harrison may be out of his mind, I appreciate that he called out Rodney Harrison. I remember him as a constantly frustrating dirty player, and if he criticizes others for being even close to what he was then he is being pretty hypocritical.

However, even if James Harrison got one thing right, the Steelers would be wise to shut him up quick.

Did anyone catch what Greg Jennings and Clay Matthews said in response to Harrison's interview when they were asked about it at the ESPY's? I saw it come up on ESPN but my girlfriend wouldn't shut up about something or another. I ended up not hearing what either her or Jennings/Matthews said. I also tried a google search and could only find Harrison's quotes.

I didn't know Jennings was asked about it. Just guessing but he probably took the high road. If Harrison was going to get a response out of anyone it would be Clay(since the comments were about him), but Matthews didn't offer up much IMO.

When Harrison spears a QB in the back of the head this year, do you think the commissioner will be more or less inclined to throw the book at him after that?

Harrison is a fool.

I kind of question the Cushing comment. James' team doc got busted with 6 figures worth of PEDs. Maybe that is the problem with Harrison, roid rage.

I've heard the Rooney family doesn't mess around.

Also, I know a Steelers fan who says LeBeau would never tell his players to hit illegally, so I guess Harrison just wanted a scapegoat on that one. He also said that anytime you put a camera and a mic in front of Harrison he's going to say something stupid, and he could care less because Harrison isn't a team leader that represents the team. I think however, that anytime a player rips on several teammates it hurts the team regardless of whether or not he is a team leader. So I'm glad that we stick to character players and let the James Harrison's of the league play elsewhere.

It is like he's going before the parole board. They want the parolee to show he accepts responsibility for his actions instead of blaming every one else. Harrison is blaming Goodell, proving he doesn't get it.

But I would expect if Harrison had said, "I know that safety of the player is the point of all this. I don't want to hurt anyone and I learned my lesson." He wouldn't get nailed so hard next time he speared someone in the head. Goodell would probably be a little more forgiving for borderline hit.

Now there is no chance of anything except maximum penalty.

CM3 SHOULD have said, "WHO did more in the last Super Bowl? WHO has the Super Bowl 45 ring?"
That says it all, i believe.

Hey, Urlacher thinks the Bears are the best team, Harrison thinks he's being picked on. Maybe they need counseling. LOL!
