Jermichael Finley was carted off the field during a game last October and never played another down, only making headlines when he tweeted his displeasure with being left out of Green Bay's Super Bowl team photo in February.

Jermichael Finley had 21 catches for 301 yards and a touchdown before going down with a knee injury in Week 5.

Finley took his message back to Twitter on Thursday, this time to provide an update on the status of his surgically-repaired right knee. If the tight end is to be believed, expect him to return to the level that made him a rising star in 2009.

"I just thought to myself that its May & this knee feels brand new already," Finley tweeted. "... This what my Pack Fans been waiting 4 huh."

Finley emerged as one of Aaron Rodgers' most dangerous weapons in 2009, finishing with 55 catches for 676 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.

He injured the knee in a loss to the Redskins in Week 5. Initially, it was believed he would return later in the season, but surgery revealed a more complete tear of the meniscus. He ended his season with 21 catches for 301 yards and a touchdown.

Donald Lee and Andrew Quarless took most of the snaps in Finley's absence, combining for 32 catches for 311 yards and four touchdowns.

didnt even know we still had lee on our team - man ... must be out of it.

Im happy to have finley back; no idea why everyone was so high on quarless; he didnt seem that great seemed less then average to me as a TE.

oh ya what did he have tatooed on his arms ... gods gift right ... no ego there either (although I think he said it wasnt ego based but who the bleep knows ... sure sounds like it).

glad to see Jer is on the mend. and will be able to practice with the other boys once they get this settlement issue out of the way.

something I would like to see them consider in the new CBA is allowing teams to bring players back from IR.

I'd trade Finley for a better than average WR. Aaron prefers WRs to TEs. That's his style. That's where he excels. Check the stats if you don't believe me.

I'm not half as high on Finley as everyone else here is. I'm now thinking Finley is like a T.O.-lite.

Before the season started Aaron hinted to Rich Eisen that Finley should be on his fantasy team. He has also suggested that Finley is virtually impossible to cover, and creates a whole-new definition of "open". I think Rodgers can hit anyone he wants, but he seems to like throwing to Finley. I mean, 20+ catches for 300+ yards in 4 games are some pretty damn impressive stats if you ask me...

So apparently because Finley said that his knee is feeling better, he has a huge ego and is the next TO?

I don't understand all the negativity towards Finley at all...

Considering you have a perpetually rosy outlook on EVERY member of the team at ALL times, I don't put much stock in what you think on this topic. In the real world, not everyone likes everyone else all the time. That's life. You are going to have to get used to it sooner or later.

It's not his style, his style is throw it to the guy who is the most open. Another "better than average" receiver on this team would be lucky to have the production Finley did in 4 games last year over a season. Your trade idea is dumb at best.

Finley needs to prove he can remain productive for an entire season. If he can't do that, he will be off the team. And when he leaves, there will be the usual group of suspects -- you, DakotaT, probably Dexter_Sinister, and myself -- being branded assholes once again as we bid him good riddance, while everyone else bemoans the loss of yet another supposedly indispensable cog of the Packers machine. 😉

Like go.pack.go, I don't get the antipathy either.

How a player acts in the locker room, on the practice field and during games is a lot more important to me than worrying about what he tweets.

I don't have a problem with Barnett either.

Most of the controversy is manufactured and has little or nothing to do with how they play.

However, if he does leave, it will be because we don't need him. Which I am fine with.

But I don't pay all that much attention to what they say and do in the media. I mostly follow the Packers for the football.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.

Finley hasn't gotten in any trouble and I have not seen that he has caused any real issues in the locker room either. Until something like that happens I'm filing criticisms of his "attitude problem" away in the same place I put criticisms of "Matthews being too worried about his sack celebration and not focused on football" last offseason (the idiotic overreaction file).

Cool. I'm sorry. I forgot that the only reason I post my opinion here was to please you.

If Finley can stay healthy for a couple seasons, he will probably be considered the best TE in the NFL, easily. So you want to cut him because he has some cockiness (sp?)? IMO, that is good for the locker room.

Finley feels like he is the best TE in football. So what? Every player should have that confidence to them.

I just think it would be a huge mistake letting go of one of the most dangerous players in the league.
