Robert Hersey arrested for 'trying to open plane door'

Robert Hersey, 43, of Arlington, Massachusetts, pulled the handle on the door, triggering an alarm, officials said. Witnesses described him as drunk.

A flight attendant escorted him to the rear of the plane and an off-duty police officer sat with him for the duration of the Delta flight.

Mr Hersey was charged on Tuesday night with interfering with a flight crew.

Passengers told local media Mr Hersey, who was wearing a shirt supporting the Boston Bruins hockey team, was foul-mouthed, intoxicated and unhappy the flight was late.

He tried to open the exit door on the Airbus 320 about half-way between Orlando, in Florida, and Boston, Massachusetts, passengers told the Boston Globe.

Mr Hersey was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

There are total idiots, and then there are complete morons. Wow. At least they didn't charge him with attempted terrorism or something dumb like that.

I heard this on the tv news the other night. (ABC I think. Whatever channel my wife had on when I got home from work.)
He is a moron. But since he is a Bruins fan I am being somewhat redundant.

Rock - Yeah, you'd think they'd find bones, money, or some other evidence. Nothing. So odds are he made it. Or of course applying Occam's Razor.

I own a TV. It's hooked up to the DVD player but that's it. If I want to watch a Packers game, I go to the bar or a friend's house.

As for paranoia, I'm a historian. If a historian isn't paranoid, he's an idiot. History does the same crap over and over again.
