I know....and you are all right. We should take the higher ground.

But does anyone believe how we treat his corpse will make ANY difference in how those people view us? They hate us, want us ALL dead, period.
NOTHING we do will change that.
But yes, we should do the right thing, no matter what.

Did you know it takes ten positive comments to ease the effects of one negative comment that one would be subjected to?

If the U.S. denied bin Laden his due Islamic burial, I assure you, the repercussions would have been grave.

Do the RIGHT thing and perhaps a few will view us as merciful and respectful to others religion.

Do the WRONG thing and it'll turn many against us.

So, will it make a big difference that we did the right thing? When you compare it to doing the wrong thing, yes, it makes a huge difference. There's such a larger scope to this than I feel is being recognized.

That's what I believe.

WPR says it well here too.

Cheesey,
It has nothing to do with bin Laden and HIS religion and EVERYTHING to do with Real Muslims. We are being gracious to them. Letting them know that even to this guy was a POS we respect THEIR beliefs and took care of the scumbag the way they would want it done.

We didn't want to make MORE enemies by disrespecting Muslims, as you've indicated, we have plenty as it is.

WHy a President should get political credit for the death of bin Laden is bizarre to me (though I'm sure he will). The people who deserve the credit are the people on the ground, the people who do the real work in the military/intelligence communities. Not whichever political hack happens to be in office at the time.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Kind like how a gang leader gets the "credit" for what his disciples do, even though he simply sends the orders down the chain of command. Crazy.

From another web site- "They say he was buried at sea in accordance with Islamic law. I think that's the PC way of saying he was chucked out of the back of a C-130 somewhere over the Indian Ocean."

I'm torn on this persons identity. If it's made public, he (and family) could be a target for those who will still try and follow Osama bin Laden.

It's kind of disjointed that in the press conference Obama gave last night, he stated Bin Laden was not a Muslim as he went against the teachings of Islam, and yet they treated him with respect in terms of observing Islamic guidelines of burial.

I agree with what you are saying wpr, especially considering President Obama reiterated in his speech last night that the US was not at war against Islam. Fair thing to do.

Well technically he said he's not a Muslim LEADER, i.e. this wasn't an attack on Muslim leadership, but I see your point.

why would muslums even care if this guy gets a "proper" burial.

im pretty sure we cann all agree he was a PoS, one of the biggest in recent history, muslum or not he should be treated as such.

no religion should defend mass murder in it's name. (they all do it though)

what a joke.

packerfanoutwest (2h) : JW is done......stick a fork in him
Zero2Cool (4h) : You should. He goes to AFC that helps Packers.
packerfanoutwest (15h) : don't care
Zero2Cool (20h) : Lions shopping Jameson Williams?
packerfanoutwest (22-Apr) : Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst says Green Bay’s roster can win, even without adding anyone in the draft.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
