Ted Thompson on the draft: Most people dont know what theyre talking about
Theres a cottage industry of experts on the NFL draft at this time of year who are only too happy to pontificate on every players strengths and every teams needs.
The general manager of this years Super Bowl winner suggests you not listen to those experts.
Theres a lot of interest in the draft, Green Bay General Manager Ted Thompson said, via Peter Kings Monday Morning Quarterback. Its great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it dont know anything about what they are talking about.
Thompson may be right, but the funny thing is that its not just most of the people commenting on the draft who dont know what theyre doing: Its many of the people conducting the draft, too. Its not the experts who made JaMarcus Russell the first overall pick or Tom Brady a sixth-round pick, it was NFL general managers.
And it wasnt a draft expert who took Justin Harrell in the first round in 2007. It was Thompson.
