The thread about Nitschke memorabilia got me thinking about my own inability to throw/give things away.

And then I thought it might be cool to find out how others approach the accumulation of "miscellaneous stuff" in their lives.

So have at it.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Can't stand clutter. It has been the instigator of about 80% of my wife and my arguments over the years. She is a slob because her parents did a pathetic job raising her, to the point I have had arguments with her mother about it.

You define yourself as meticulous...in reality you are anal-retentive.

I'm guessing that you're so anal, you could stick a piece of coal up your ass and have a diamond in a week.

But then again, anything that has to do with ass..... fits you to a DakotaT. :onfloor:

Co-workers often give me crap because my desk has the most stuff on it, but easily the most organized.

I have too much clutter. I would prefer to be less so.

We have clutter.. I've historically been bad with being clutter-full.. But not as bad was we are now. I accredit my wife with 80% of the clutter in the apartment now. This is why I can't/don't clean the place.. I wouldn't know what to do with the shit (besides throw it out).

I thought it I just didn't want to say it. Only we don't have an apt. We have a 3 BR house with a full basement and a 2 car garage. 80% of it her stuff.

I'm a neat freak, and always have been. Even when I die, my ashes will be neatly packed in a Packers Bag and dumped neatly off the I-90 bridge at Fish Creek so I can neatly and in an organized manner, float serenely down the Clark Fork River, into the Columbia River, and neatly head into the Pacific Ocean.

I'm the clutter-king. I own way too much stuff. My desk always has crap on it. But I'm extremely organized as well. I know where everything is, even if the object of desire is lying on one quarter of my bedroom floor versus the other three quarters. I can pinpoint it. I also like keeping old electronics and cords because you never know when they can come in handy.

For example our router got screwed up and the internet wasn't working. The tech lady couldn't help me get the settings right on it so she sent me a new one but it would take 3-5 days to get here. I need my internet. So I went to my trusty "old technology shit" box (that's the real label), found an older router of theirs and copied the settings over to the broke one. Got it working in ten minutes.

I have too many stories like the one above to ever think about throwing away crap that could be valuable. Just recently I pulled out an old USB keyboard and monitor to setup an extended desktop for programming. It's awesome!

Of course, I have realized I own too much stuff (my van has had a bookshelf in it for months because there's no where to put it) so I'm going to have a yard sale this summer. I'll probably donate whatever doesn't sell.

It's 80% her stuff because it's easier to throw 20% to the curb than 80%. 😉
