April 11, 2011 7:03 a.m. | State Sen. Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) may have to face a recall election this summer, but he won't be going toe to toe with the all-time sacks leader of the Green Bay Packers.
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, a defensive lineman who was released by the Packers in 2008, had been rumored to be considering a run as a Republican if enough signatures were gathered to force Hansen into a recall election.
But Gbaja-Biamila, more commonly known as KGB, replied to an email from the Journal Sentinel on Monday by saying he wasn't planning to run.
Here's his statement:
"While I am humbled that so many in northeast Wisconsin have suggested I get involved with a possible recall election in the 30th Senate District, the time is not right for me to run for public office. After playing nine memorable years for the world's greatest fans in Green Bay, I am focused on spending time with my beautiful wife Eileen and our five wonderful children
