I'm not one that likes advertising much, but thought this was a good deal and would pass it on. You can even have the voice in Darth Vader!

That is nice. I usually print out a page or 2 of google maps when I need instructions.

It is amazing how much these gadgets have come down in price. Makes you wonder what the next year or will bring.

I use my phone for navigation, but this is looking like a really good deal. I might spring for it. I'm not sure.

I'm an oldschooler who still uses and prefers a good ole' Rand McNally atlas. However, being able to have Homer Simpson direct me where to turn is pretty damn hard to turn down!

That's not old school, that's fearing technology and not trusting it. 😉

I've switched over to gmaps for navigation on my android phone, I had a 2-3 year old Garmin, which was decent, but the maps were outdated and it was going to cost $90 to update them. So I bought an android phone instead! The speaker quality is worse than the dedicated GPS, but overall, the functionality of a smart phone is sooo much better.

With my dedicated GPS, I had to know exactly where I was going, know the spelling, etc. With my phone, it will spell correct for hard to spell city names, give me suggestions, or even let me easily search for restaurants/points of interest/etc near where I currently am, and read reviews and go to the website to check out menus and such, all with relative ease. This is a big leap in quality over a standard GPS.

Also, its a lot more flexible, I can simply type "target" or "gas" or "food" and I will get a bunch of results. You can do this to an extend on a GPS, but my phone has a much better interface for it.

Sorry if that rant made me look like a google salesman, but smartphone > GPS.

It SHOULD be considering what you pay for the phone itself and your monthly fee to the phone company.

I do like my Evo 4G for similar reasons-I guess. I can start typing Targ and it'll throw up suggestions that are within 25 or so miles. I was not aware you could not do something similar with GPS devices.

$85 shipped on woot.com. Different GPS but if you're in the market... Woot is a deal a day site so they're gone at midnight or when they sell out.
