My opinion is we were as close to a 2nd seed as not making it.

Chicago did sneak in. That Johnson catch was the difference between them in the playoffs or out.

I hope you're joking. The Bears led the division from wire to wire. It's hard to classify that as "sneaking in."

If Mason Crosby had made the game winning FG in regulation against the Redskins, they would have been the #2 seed.

With the parity in the league a plays determine a game, a few plays change playoff position.

The Packers did not sneak. They won opening and publicly.

Don't listen to ignorant fools. Was it a jealous vikling scumbag that said the Packers snuck in?

no. A lot of people have said it. I have seen/read journalists, the Detroit owner, the person who wrote the article that this thread had been attached to along with many on this board subscribe to the theory since GB was not 2-3 games ahead of the other wild card teams and they can look at games late in the season like the Giants collapse not only against Phil but their season ending swoon that GB got lucky and snuck in to the playoffs when no one was looking.

I like to look at it as Karma turning back into a princess. I didn't walk away from the TV after any loss last season and say we were worse than the team that just beat us. It would have been a travesty if we wouldnt' have been in the playoffs.

And now that you've deleted the article from the top of this thread, my post makes no sense.

You could say that about almost any team. Looks at Seattle and the Jets. The NFL season is so short, that some worthy teams miss the playoffs every year. It usually breaks down to what division you are in. You're lucky if you're in the NFC West or AFC West. You're screwed if you're in the AFC South.

It's hard for me to say we snuck in. We had a ton of bad breaks, missed/made field goals, questionable calls, etc (as most teams do). This year was just particularly crazy because it seemed like all of losses came down to 1 or 2 plays. It's hard for me to say that we "snuck into" the playoff, when Seattle & KC got in.

First of all I think we must have set some kind of record for the fewest total number of points difference in six losses during the regular season.

Secondly, at the end of the regular season the Packers avenged an earlier loss to the Bears in a must win. I don't know how you sneak in when you win a MUST game against the Division Champion.

Third, if anyone feels we snuck by the Giants to get in wasn't it the Giants we kicked the living hell out of there at the end of the year? So we didn't sneak by them. We steamrolled over the top of them.

The only other team I can think of were the Bucs and they didn't beat a team with a winning record until the last game of the year so if they had gotten in who would have been sneaking by whom?

The right team got in and they proved it. Pretty simple really.

Well by my definition sneaking into the playoffs would mean no one expected us to be there. I would reserve the "sneaking" line for the Seahawk's. They had a terrible record and still made the playoffs. I also assume that everyone picked the Rams to go instead of the Seahawks. That to me is sneaking into the playoffs.

Now the Packers had a 10-6 record to finish the season. That record will usually get a team in the playoffs. Add that to the fact that we were on everyone's radar and I don't think we "snuck" in. We may have surprised a few people but we were also there. We were always alive as a possible playoff candidate.
