I'm assuming you all know the conditions of the Favre pick. That 4th rounder has probably all but officially become a 3rd given that he's taken nearly all the snaps and we're half way through the year.

What's interesting though is that the Jets are now tied for the division lead. If they were to make the playoffs, that pick becomes a 2nd rounder. Initially, I gave that possibility slim odds, but the loss of Tom Brady as shifted the division.

Here's a look at the remaining Jets games:

vs St Louis
@ New England
@ Tennessee
vs Denver
@ San Francisco
vs Buffalo
@ Seattle
vs Miami

The Jets have already lost to NE at home and beat Buffalo and Miami on the road. They have as good a shot as anyone to win that division. Failing that, they're in good position to obtain a Wild Card spot. It's not tough to find 5 wins in that schedule.

Use this thread to track the Favre Pick throughout the next 8 games.

Jets need to take care of home, win @ seattle and Sf, that's 6.
A win @ either Ne or Tn would be a nice surprise, let's just take them 1 at a time and see what happens.

This thread is actually a very good idea.

So we're looking at a 3rd rounder most likely right now, with a 2nd if the Jets make the playoffs. I don't think anyone would be upset with that since both parties benefit.

After today's game, the Jets sit atop the AFC East along with New England. Those two play on Thursday night and the winner will be sitting pretty in regards to securing a playoff spot.

What I find more interesting than their record is their point differential. Yes, it was padded by a shellacking of the Rams this afternoon, but nonetheless, their current +65 ranks only behind Tennessee for largest gap in the AFC. This suggest that there's no reason to expect the Jets to regress. The Jets have scored more points than any team in the AFC and the defense is middle of the pack. Things look on the up and up for a Jets playoff spot.

I would suspect that winning 2 of the next 3 games (@NE, @TN, vs DEN) would all but assure the Jets a playoff spot and the Packers a 2nd round pick.

Statistically The Jets D may be middle of the pack, but if you saw any of yesterdays game(I know it was Stl.), the D was dominating.

A couple of weeks ago I didn't think Jets would have a chance at winning either @NE or @Tn, but as the old saying goes, defense wins championships.

2nd rnd pick looking good for The Pack, but let's just see what happens the next 2 weeks.

Well, huge win for the Jets tonight (and by proxy, huge win for the Packers as well). They're now 7-3 and in the driver's seat to win the AFC East. Short of that, it would take a decent breakdown combined with some great play from other team to keep the Jets out of the Wild Card at least.

Three more wins should lock up a playoff spot. Remaining schedule includes home games vs Buffalo, Miami, and Denver and road games vs Tennessee, San Francisco, and Seattle. The Jets should be favored in 5 of those games.

My guess is that if you ran the rest of this season through 10 times over, the Jets make the playoffs in 8 of them.

Hello, 2nd round draft pick!!!!

NOTE: I don't want to get too far into this because it's still early, but is there a team in the AFC that you can't see the Jets beating in the playoffs? They're playing good football right now. A 1st round pick is not out of the realm of possibility.

Huge win for The Jets, so much for defense winning championships

Jets are in the drivers seat, they have 10 days to prepare for Tn.

A win there and a #2 is almost a lock, (knock on wood), lots of football to be played yet, 1 at a time!!!!

Looks to me like Favre will definately get to 70% of the plays at QB and the Jets will make the playoffs. I mean they have teams like Seattle and San Francisco, Buffalo and Miami left.

Another second rounder for us in a strong draft class. Who knows. It could come down to the Jets and Titans and if the Jets pull it off we get a another first round pick.

Gotta love Brett. His play makes us mo beta for the long haul!

Unlike last year there is some serious meat on the bone in the coming draft with some really good talent along the line on both sides of the ball.

Yeah baby!

Gee. Maybe with those two twos we can draft an entire offensive line.

{edit:} Sorry... It's hard for me to find any joy in any aspect of the Favre debacle.

Yeah, yeah. I know. "He's gone. Get over it."

I can't. The greatest player of our generation, and maybe the greatest Packer ever, and he's taking somebody else to the playoffs because of stupid pride and miscommunication.

Yeah, I'm bitter. Sorry. (/rant)

Back on the topic, Ted will probably turn one of those twos into a 3rd, two 4ths and nine 7ths. If we were playing better as a team he might have used them on playmakers, but I see more holes on this team now than I did back in April.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
