I think I will withhold my predictions on next season more so than the average season.

With the CBA influx, too many of the elements of next season rosters are even more in the unknown state. Especially with RFA tenure and Franchise tags being targets in the CBA talks.

A Rookie cap will also impact the draft greatly, as the top 5 picks will more than likely have some trade value returned to them if the salaries of those picked becomes realistic again. If that is the case, it becomes a turkey shoot so to speak with trading blue/ red and white chip players being included in deals with teams looking for the next better than sliced bread player sitting on top of the draft boards.

That could have dramatic impacts on the roster landscapes come August.

So like I said.. I will withhold my guesses until some of these gray areas are colored in with more definition.

Now with that.. keep twisting Formo's nipples with the rebuilding talk. ;)

I laugh at the notion that says the Vikings haven't built their roster via the draft... Uhh.. DURRRR.. K-Williams, Cedric Griffen, Sidney Rice, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, McKinney, Sullivan, Edwards, Chad Greenway, EJ Henderson, Chris Cook, Toby Gerhart, Guion, Robison, Sanford, Asher Allen, Brinkley, Erin Henderson, Tyrell Johnson, Loadholdt, Joe Webb. These are guys that have either significant play time or have started that I can think of off the top of my head that have been drafted.

"DakotaT" wrote:

The guys in bold are decent players and they're pretty much all top draft choices except Sidney Rice and Sullivan. The rest of them wouldn't even make our roster. The Vikings have hardly "done a good job" in the draft. You have just as many players acquired via free agency: Hutchinson, Winfield, Allen, Fat Pat, Favre, Medieu Williams, Bernard Berrian. See my point, I'll refrain from the "uh duh" stuff.

"Formo" wrote:

Hey moron, that list wasn't a list a great players they drafted. My point was, the Vikings do indeed draft for their team. A point that smashed your cute little notion that they sucked at the draft game and all they did was buy FA (which is a part of the game, stupid). And as far as whether or not some of those players making your team's roster is another laughable statement to come from your jackass. Just more proof of the increasing ignorance that success 'provided' you. Shit, looking at the unbolded players, with the exception of Loadholdt, every one of the others are backups. That being said, how can you even START to think that they can or can not make your favorite team's roster? I've hardly seen some of those guys play, and I watch/follow the Vikings a little bit more than you do. So how can you come up with this knowledge of those players and then have the capability to imagine their play in completely different systems (Tampa Two vs. 3-4?!)?

Look, we know you hate the Vikings and anything associated with the color purple. But that aversion seriously is affecting your ability to make any sort of objective opinion. It's ok, though, while I disagree with your opinion, it doesn't even matter because whatever the Vikings decide to do (reload or rebuild), next year I still predict they are a bubble playoff team. Which doesn't mean I'm predicting them to make the playoffs, but to be a player in the playoff race in the last few weeks of the regular season. Unless, of course, they resign T-Jack. Then they are in complete rip-down mode and will be even more of a non-factor than they were this past season.

You're right Formo, Minnesota has made so many intelligent personnel decisions in the last decade that you guys are sitting pretty right now, and when you add that one athletic DT this offseason boy look out - Super Bowl.

Don't call me a moron, and the only thing I truly despise about the Vikings are uneducated fans talking shit because I live amongst so many. Most of the time I just feel sorry for your asses because for the most part your community supports that team, and you have probably deserved better from owners and managers past and present.

OK pot, the kettle is black. The problem with you Formo is that you can't take criticism of your team. You guys sucked this year, will suck again next year; and then when you finally put something together you will have used up Peterson cause he's been rode harder than Sunshine at the Bunny Ranch.

BTW, I miss your points because you never make any.

Ok, let me ask you something before I respond to your post. When you say the Vikes are going into a rebuild phase this season, do you mean that as what you think they SHOULD do? Or do you mean that as what you think they WILL do?

To be clear, I'm saying I think they SHOULD reload, not rebuild. In my opinion, there's still too much talent to waste on that squad by going into a rebuild mode. Lets be fair, when Chilly took over, the Vikings were in HUGE rebuild mode. They didn't have an identity (outside of Suck) and the cupboards? BARE. That was all on Red, if you ask me. Anyway, Chilly helped to identify a 'theme' for the team, and had his hand on bringing more than a few key pieces to the puzzle. So when you say they are in rebuild mode, that's what I think of. And I'll stop following the NFL completely if that's something they will do all over again. Seriously, compared to the 2005/2006 roster to today's roster. Now tell me which is rebuild and which is reload.

Uh. I can completely take criticism of my team. I know they sucked this year and I've never once denied that. It's the 'predictions' that they'll suck in the future because of past failures that I refuse to take. And I'm still willing to strike a bet with you to back my talk. Of course, my prediction/thought on the Vikings reloading or not doesn't mean that's what they'll do. It's just my prediction on what they'll do. And what I think they should do.

Formo, my point is that you consider it reloading if you are about to replace half your roster. That's called rebuilding, and for God sakes draft a fuckin' quarterback of the future and hire a coach who's specialty is producing quarterbacks.

You can ignore me for the period of time between now and when they agree to the CBA.. and how that new CBA affects the rosters.

Why.. because this is my favorite time of the year to review rosters of all teams, players that may be free and needs for all teams. I enjoy this time of the year almost as much as I do that actual games.

And the NFLPA and NFL itself are screwing with my fun.

Basically.. why bother with that exercise when the rules are not defined.. lol.

They are pissing in my Cheerios and it tastes like it. 😉

Roster has 53 slots as we know it today.

The Vikings will turn over at the minimum of 20 of those spots from this years roster.

20/53 = 38%

An that is being conservative.. would you like some help detailing out how conservative that number is? 😉
