I know you are scared for your son.....I don't blame you.
But you also must be VERY proud of him!
I don't even know him, and i'm proud of him!

Thank you Cheesey. I know what you mean however, for the record, I have to say that I am not afraid for him.
I can not guarantee his safety here in the States. (He was in the building next door when the shootings took place at NIU last year. His sister was walking to the building where the shootings took place at the very moment it occurred.)
I have long since turned over the responsibility of watching over my children to the Lord. He does a better job than I could ever do.
I am concerned for him but not fearful. He will come home. I am certain of it.
I do miss him. I wish he didn't have to put his life on hold for a year. By the time he gets back he will have missed at least 2 full years of college maybe more.
He has a young lady who has let him know that if he were to propose, her answer is "Yes".
I wish he didn't have to face the hardships that are ahead of him. But this is something he and I have talked about since he was 16 and thinking about joining the National Guard. He is 22 now or will be in 6 weeks.
