Funny you brought this up. I woke up the morning of the Super Bowl. I had a dream that the Packers signed Al Harris to a one-day contract just to allow him to get a ring and be a part of the big show. I didn't post it because I knew it was just wishful thinking anyhow.

I, too, was presumptuous in thinking he would be retiring (never playing again). I didn't even consider how he would feel about it. Would hope he wouldn't be insulted and the points about his leadership and tutelage for our junior players are all valid points.

The fact that more than one of us thought this speaks volumes of the character of Al Harris and his relationship with fans and the team alike. Great player. Class act.

Absolutely. Al Harris has done so much for this organization and he was a part of the Packers squad this year. One thing people need to realize is a player can do a lot more for an organization than what they do on the field Sunday afternoon, night or Monday night.

Al Harris is a Packer for life. No one will look at Al Harris and say, I remember that Dolphins game. This guys blood runs green and yellow and if he were accepting of it, 100% give this guy a championship ring.

When the Colts won the Super Bowl, Indianapolis OFFERED Edgerrin James a ring.

Obviously, the man was on a different team and played the entire season.

I say we do the same thing.

No. He didn't play a down this year.

Should they resign Aaron Kampman and give him a ring too?

What about Ahman Green? Where do you draw the line?

To me, Harris went through all the offseason work.. was on the roster for more than half the year and in the end was excused.

But if you want to be a ass about it.. so be it.

Kampman, Green were not on the roster this season.. pretty simple line to me.

I'm with nonstop. I guess that makes two asses. Harris would know that he didn't contribute to this championship. Why would he want the ring from a season and game he didn't contribute to? It's a groundless gesture and Harris would know it's a groundless gesture.

Are you going to give a ring to Harrell and Blackmon too?

Most importantly, Al Harris is now a member of the Miami Dolphins. What message would that send to his new teammates and coaches, and the Dolphin organization that gave him a chance to play when GB wouldn't?

Al is a high character guy. He knows he doesn't deserve this ring. He made the choice to leave when we offered to put him on IR. When he made that choice, he took himself off of this team.

He was released by Miami.
MLB players get a share of the World Series money (and ring?) even if they have been traded mid season.
That said I still say no.

Saying no is not being an ass.. how he said it and being sarcastic as hell was. Kampman nor Green spent anytime with the club this year.

NonStop has stated in the past that he wanted people to call him on his bullshit.. consider it called.

I am mixed on offering him a contract and a ring, but I lean more to offering it in the least.

Harrell is on IR,.. he is getting a ring. And that is my point with Harris.. IMO, I would guess Harris contributed more than the likes of Harrell.
