I am not on the exiting of MM... he is far to good of a coach to let go of.. just this weekly rehashing of the same tired words is old.

This isn't a week 10 thing, this is several weeks if not all season.. it just is getting to a boil now. A divisional loss will do that.

We aren't the most heavily penalized team based on one week.. it is a combination of many.

Our offensive line didn't just play one poor game, it has played the majority that way.

Our run defense didn't just give up one week of excessive yards.. they have been consistent this year.

That is my point.. nothing more.. I don't want to hear, excuses or "I will not fault our play" type comments..

We have issues... fix them, make an adjustment if needed.. personnel, bring more presence into the box, something.

Today.. he sounds like a coach in denial... either that or he is more of a players coach than I believed.

It is okay to criticize where things can be improved.. criticism is often a very effect agent for change. Not that a message board like this will change anything, but I sure in the hell believe writers use these boards.. if nothing more for fodder and a sense of story direction.

Of course its not a problem, its not even on the radar.

I think McCarthy has hit a coaching wall, or I'm still pissed off at the Titans loss which could very well be true.

I think the players that are causing the headaches should stay after school and have, tooth picks to hold their eye lids open and watch time and again, the penalties they are the same guys for the most part.If your old enough tooth pick idea came from a clock work orange.Seriously though they should do something, these guys are making it a habit that needs to be fixed.

I've always seen pennalties as a coaching problem. If there is a problem with an indivdual player it's up to the coach to "coach him up" or replace him. That doesn't seem to be what's happening here. It's time to put in the time or make the hard decission to replace someone.
The buck always stops with the coach.

5-1 against the Vikings.

"Packnic" wrote:

What is his record against the Bears?

My point here, is past record plays little into how the team played Sunday.. we are hitting a stretch of consecutive games with iff play along the lines and penalties at a alarming rate.

He, his staff and the players need to correct this pyramid of mistakes.. hearing for weeks upon weeks that it needs to be fixed isn't going to get the job down.

Results in sharper play will..

"pack93z" wrote:

I understand that. results talk. and right now its silent.

my only point is that getting rid of McCarthy is a ridiculous idea. one week we are talking about how great he is, the next about how terrible his play calling is and how he should be fired for losing to the Vikings once out of 6.

your point about the Bears is well taken .. but you wont find me coming on this board next week after we win demanding that McCarthy gets a contract extension because he is 1-5 against the Bears. Hyperbole goes both ways.

Not to mention that if Mason Crosby kicks that feild goal 10 more feet to the left. NOT ONE word would have been said about Mike.

I am just calling for some sensibility thats all.

"Packnic" wrote:

Who said fire him? Not me. His coaching has been poor. For some reason you disagree. Thats ok. You have the right to be wrong.

And BTW, had Mason made that kick, that would not change the fact that his coaching has been poor.

the one thing I will agree with that mike said was the penalties that happen in the competitive areas isnt as bad to him..Such as holding while trying to block someone things like that..

the ones he has issues with are the pre snap and the late stuff..

Those should not happen.

maybe crowd noise plays more of an issue so not to sure if this applies..

I played high school football for 4 years, I had one false start and no offsides..

I listened to the snap count on offense and watched the ball while on defense. pretty simple even for a dummy like me

Yep.

I read his lips after Blackmon's stupid punt return and he said "good job, I will not fault you for that moronic decision, but I have to pretend to be yelling at you right now. Go get some gatorade, champ. Well done!"

Knowing how to read lips is a curse.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
