Irving, Texas - Former Packers wide receiver James Lofton provided a brief scouting report about the current Packers receiving corps.
Greg Jennings has phenomenal body control, Lofton said in an interview. Hes like a bigger, faster version of John Jefferson. James Jones is just a clutch guy.
Donald Driver, the leader of the crew, does all the dirty work, Lofton said. He blocks fantastically. He catches the ball in-between the numbers. Still great after the catch when you get the ball in his hands. He may be the leading receiver in this game because of all the blitzes that come from the Steelers.
Lofton said he is struck by how unselfish the Packers receivers are.
When you look at the numbers, nobodys numbers really step out, Lofton said. You dont have a 100-catch guy. So everybody is pulling his weight. The fact that Jordy Nelson has come up big the last couple of weeks just speaks volumes. You dont hear any grumbling, I didnt get my three catches. I didnt get my four catches. I think that is the most important thing about this unit, that they are team oriented.
Lofton, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003, will work as a sideline reporter in Westwood Ones radio broadcast of Super Bowl XLV.
