Actually, it doesn't go both ways. We did beat the 1,2 and 3 seeds on the road to get here. No other way to spin it.

We played better than every team we played all year. Win or lose, the Packers played like the better team.

Yes, the better team doesn't always win. Any given Sunday and luck matters.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Some more fodder for the 'world class' argument. It's even more impressive when you consider that we lost two games by FGs in OT, 2 games by FGs in the last 10 secs, and the other two losses were by 4 pts, with Aaron Rodgers sitting out (2nd half of the Detroit game, all of the Patriots game).

Green Bay May Be the Greatest Six-Loss Team

When the Green Bay Packers squeaked into the playoffs with a 10-6 record, not many people picked them to get to the Super Bowl. But there the Packers are, not just headed to Dallas but a betting favorite over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A closer look at the Packers' six losses, however, shows why Green Bay is better than its record would indicate, and why the Packers are the favorites: They played close, competitive games even in defeat, in a way no NFL team ever had.

The Packers lost twice by field goals in overtime, twice by field goals in the last 10 seconds of the fourth quarter, and twice by four points, with both of those four-point losses coming on the road with quarterback Aaron Rodgers injured. No team in NFL history had ever before had a six-loss season with all six losses by four points or fewer, according to Stats Inc.

In fact, until this season's Packers, no team had even had a five-loss season with all the losses by four points or fewer. The only team that ever had four losses all by four or fewer was the 1987 Washington Redskins, who went on to win the Super Bowl.

For the bettors in Las Vegas, the margin of victory matters more than who wins and who loses, and counting the playoffs, Green Bay has now outscored its opponents by a total of 187 pointsa better scoring margin than the Steelers, who have outscored their opponents by 155 points. So even though the Steelers have a better record, it's no surprise that the Packers are the Super Bowl favorites.

Close Calls
Here are the teams with the most regular-season losses, where every loss was by four or fewer points.

         TEAM RECORD
2010 Packers 10-6
1987 Redskins 11-4
2000 Titans 13-3
1962 Lions 11-3
1960 Browns 8-3-1
1953 Rams 8-3-1
1953 49ers 9-3
1934 Lions 10-3

The Packers are only the second team in history (after the 2005-06 Steelers) to beat the 1, 2, and 3 seeds en route to the Super Bowl.

Another +1 to Macbob. I think that's +2 in this thread from me.

Note to Pack93z, remember when you and I were discussing what stats mattered the most? I think one of the stats that mattered the most was point disparity. We're a +187 team. I'll have to look it up, but I think it's common for the #1 team in PF vs PA wins the SB.

So +187 > +155, although I gotta give credit to the Steelers as +155 is pretty dang good too. You generally need to be a +100 team to win the big one. Once again, wish I had the stats in front of me. I wrote them down somewhere but forgot where I put them.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
