I still like his comment of, if you are not on the wagon from the start, we won't want you later.

It may have been a little too honest. I was all for it.

LOL yeah that was kind of shocking to hear a player say that. I understand exactly what he means, though. My father in-law was a Vikings fan just because he is from MN, but now that he has a son-in-law that is a Packers fan, and the Packers are good, he cheers for us (probably to cheer along with me, as much as anything). If it weren't my FIL, I'd probably give him shit for trying to switch just when the Packers are getting toward the top.

All of the Vikings fans in my parish (in ND on the MN border) are secret Packer fans.

There has to be some coaching done on public speaking. Rodgers is getting better and working well on his humility.

But then again Jermicael Finley spoke out yesterday so so pehaps with practice guys get better.

It wasn't so much what he said.. but when he said it. The timing was poor and I am sure it drew some of the criticism and ridiculous things people held against him personally or said to him.

There was already blood in the water.. that comment was like throwing 5 buckets of chum in as well stirring up the frenzy.

That said... now getting to know him throw the three hour window and multiple stories about him, you can see that it was confidence more than being brash. At the time.. the fan base, had little to no history upon Aaron to work with and to have an understanding of the intent.

Kid has made few questionable decisions in his time as the leader of this team to have held it against him. All in all, he handled that situation and the pressure better than anyone could be expected to.

IMO, you have to respect that man for standing in that firestorm and not getting scorched as so many QB's do following a legend and under the terms he did so.

I think we collectively are too uptight about what is said and fail to understand the context and the surrounding events when said comments are spoken.

Rodgers get on board is a prime example. Read the whole article, consider the events of what was going on at that time he said them and then also try TRY to consider what he was going through, replacing the most beloved player in NFL history, by fans and media. Add on to that he was expected to get selected 1st overall, dropped to 24th, etc ...

We need to lighten up and maybe even consider the person speaking might have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. It's unfair and unrealistic to expect someone to say the right thing, every single time. It's almost as if you expect them to be your kids role model.

Oh man, I thought you would definitely have his quote in here from the Brian Urlacher question...

It looks like you and Urlacher playing chess out there before the snap. Does he make it more difficult for you to do your thing or make decisions?
Brian is probably my favorite player to play against just because I enjoy the seconds between snaps. He's a very funny guy on the field. I know a lot of his calls probably don't mean a lot and he probably knows the same thing about some of my calls, so we have some fun with each other back and forth not only between plays, TV timeouts, at the line of scrimmage, a lot of respect, definitely on my side. I don't know how he feels about me. He said he voted for me for the Pro Bowl. I don't know if he's lying or not. A lot of respect on this side for the way that he plays, the way he's played this season. But somebody I really enjoy playing against.

Really thought this was awesome to hear. It seems Rodgers is very close to a lot of the Bears players (also Cutler). Urlacher is a cool guy and I would love to hear these two mic'd up during a game.

I might be in the minority but I love hearing our players talk about how the like playing against the best players rather than hating to play against them. I don't know if that makes it any more competitive than, say, a Jets/Pats game where the players hate each other. But I think when guys like playing against each other, it really ratchets up the "oneupsmanship" (is that a word) and adds to the entertainment value.
