Frankly, I don't see the slightest resemblance. Just goes to show how fine the line between "hot" and "not" really is.

I don't think the music industry at that level is "good" for anybody's physical appearance. Then throw in to the mix a mobile phone picture with a flash when someone is giving you a "what the fuck are you doing?" face in bed and the results will rarely be pretty.

Or I just like me some Katy Perry. Never heard one of her songs though. Except the Sesame Street one that got banned.

You raise excellent points, of course, but compare Halle Berry in Gothika (downright gorgeous) with Halle Berry in Monster's Ball (anything but). The difference is startling.

I do believe in gradations of beauty, but I've also come to realize that the scale is much more compressed than most horny men raised on diets of FHM and Maxim (not to mention Victoria's Secret ads) realize.

er...what is FHM?
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

What do you mean? That Maxim and FHM show unreachable pictures and woman aren't actually that beautiful?

That Maxim and FHM create different layers of beauty that aren't really there?

Or that there's just ugly, ok and beautiful and really not that much in between?

I don't really get your comment.

Wade, FHM originally stood for For Him Magazine, though I like to say that it stands for For Horny Men. ;)

Rock, I'm saying most men don't understand just how much manipulation (digital and otherwise) and effort go into making those women look as beautiful as they seem. Not only are they heavily made up, but they are shot under ideal lighting conditions and have blemishes airbrushed out. Often their actual shapes and proportions are altered digitally. Photographers shoot many hundreds of pictures to get those one or two that capture that elusive moment in which she looks amazing.

Many women in your everyday life, as long as they take decent care of themselves, are just as attractive as the stars we idolize as paragons of beauty. We just don't see it because we take them for granted.

Oh, yeah, in that case, I totally agree. To be honest, in most cases, I don't get the obsession with stars.

I mean, some are quite hot, but the obsession about the Kardashian sisters, while we have at least 5 people hotter at the place I work always amazes me. I wonder what percentage of men actually think they're amazingly hot and what percentage is just going with the trend, because it's the cool thing to do right now.

Don't get me wrong, Kim Kardashian is quite good looking on some photos, but not miles ahead of anyone here.

Then again, pictures without knowing the person always do little for me. I don't have anything with socialites and couldn't care less about their reality program, so I know very little about her.

Off topic, but Nell Mcandrew's photoshoot for FHM was their best ever. I don't f'ing care if it was manipulated.
