I don't think it matters. I believe the Packer players know they are a superior team and will show that on Sunday. Lovely can do whatever he wants, their division championship should come with an asterisk saying they had no injuries and Packers lost 13 starters.

Hell, how about all the teams they caught when their starting QB was out? Luck's always a big part of a quality season for any team, but this year's Bears are setting a new standard.

See this is what you call homerism at its best. If you are saying that then the Packers are just as lucky to be where we are. The games we have faced then backups :

Eagles (knocked out Kolb)
Lions both times and lost to their 3rd string
Cowboys
49ers

so right there is 1/3 of our games

Well, I am a Packers fan, so I'm comfortable in my own homerism. This isn't friggin' journalism, it's a fan chat board. I don't feel any need to be fair and balanced.

Also, I don't think I said the Pack haven't been lucky (in fact, if you'd bother to read, I acknowledged that luck factors in on any quality season). They've had some good luck and bad luck. I will go ahead and point out, though, that they knocked the Eagles' starter out of the game - that's not luck, that's good aggressive play.

At any rate, anyone who doesn't spend all their time complaining about their own team can see that the Bears have had a LOT of good fortune this season. We'll just have to see if that continues.

Sorry ILike I must have taken your post the wrong way, I was thinking you were saying the only reason the Bears have their record is because they faced backups and not because they were a good team.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Let Lovie play his starters the entire game. I see the Packers coming into this game with more fire.

Lovie is taking a big chance if he is going to leave Cutler, Urlacher, Briggs, etc etc. in the game. As much as the Bears want to win and knock out a division rival, Packers WANT to be in the playoffs even more.

If the Packers come out like they did against the Giants it is going to be lights out for the Bears.

**I hope Matthews takes Cutler's friggin' head off.**

Living in Chicago, their own sports radio even calls a lot of the Bears season lucky. Better to be lucky than nothing at all is what I always go by. Had the Packers faced the same streak of luck (injuries to other teams with 0 injuries to your own) I wouldn't be complaining one damn bit.

Packers are still the better team going into week 17.

Report: Signs point towards Bears resting some starters
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 31, 2010, 5:09 PM EST

Lovie Smith and the Bears have talked all week about wanting to beat the Packers and going all out to win Sunday.

Behind the scenes, however, it appears Smith has been preparing his backups to play more than normal. Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com reports that the Bears staff told some of the teams key backups to be ready to play. They tellingly ramped up practice repetitions for players like running back Kalil Bell and tight end Kellen Davis.

Its possible the Bears will just be extra careful with a few nicked up players like wideout Earl Bennett, running back Matt Forte, and linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa.

Its also possible that once a few backups enter the game, many more will follow. The Bears may essentially let their rival Packers walk right into the playoffs. Giants fans can only hope otherwise.

Thanks for the report, Zero. That's what I was expecting. As long as the Packers take this game seriously (and how can they not do that?) they should win it. My only worry is that they make a bunch of screw-ups early in the game and get themselves into a hole. The Bears can score on defense and special teams and the occasional big play on offense. I'm hoping the Packers take charge early, but even if it is close at halftime I think the Bears' enthusiasm will wane.

I figured the Bears would keep their starters in, but I was fully expecting them to be filtering out during the third quarter.

This wasn't much different than '06, as I said it wouldn't be, however, we weren't beating their asses so I think that's why the starters stayed in.

I'm glad the starters stayed in and we got the win and we didn't suffer any injuries.

In some ways I respect the Bears for coming to play. We've all seen how many times resting their starters has seemed to backfire on the Colts. On the other hand, with Cutler getting sacked as many times as he did, not to mention throwing that interception at a key moment, I was a little surprised they didn't eventually pull him out and simply have their backup QB hand it off to Forte, who was getting a reasonable number of yards on the ground.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
