I wonder if Grant is still expendable with Starks sitting in inactive hell? ;)

Seriously.. it is special teams and pass protection from Mike McCarthy that has Starks on the inactive list.

And I find it surprising that Starks can't break into the special teams.. generally where young guys "cut" their teeth.

Maybe.. just maybe this is a message for the lad.. get your "crap" together or sit and watch.

Or maybe.. since he missed most of the offseason work, TC and what not.. after not playing for 18 months or so.. that Starks isn't game ready yet..

Either way.. lets not get to hung up on this.. Nance has been running better but has work to do.. but Mike McCarthy is becoming more and more comfortable with him in passing calls.. Starks at this point doesn't have that.. and honestly it is a key for the defense.. Starks comes in, look for the run.

Well, sounds like they know Starks is their best runner, but they're investing in the future by holding him back. They're showing him they want him to develop his off field preparation habits. So I guess that's understandable. Once he does that, he'll see the field again.

I missed this, where did the Packers say Starks is their best runner and future? All I hear is that the kid isn't good enough to get on the field.

Special Teams is bad enough as is, last thing we need to do is purposely make it worse.

With both of those comments, I would rather see BJack get the healthy scratch. Let Nance stay with the special teams and see what Starks can do.

James Starks is not our future RB in the Packers eyes. They haven't said anything remotely close to that. Ryan Grant will be our starting RB unless he's not fully recovered in '11.

Or Starks gives one hell of a foot massage. (Pulp Fiction reference if it went over anyone's head).

Starks had one solid game. I was excited, but Brandon Jackson has even had more than one solid game as a RB (not just 3rd down RB), and I'm no fan of BJack as a 1st/2nd down RB at all.

James Starks and Brandon Jackson, who's had more opportunities to have a solid game?

Starks is the only RB I've seen this year who consistently attacked the hole. In these BS scheme, that's what we need. Not a dancer, not a prancer, someone who's gonna make one cut and boogie. That's what Ryan Grant does and it's worked for him.

I believe Korey Hall is out, so maybe we'll get to see Starks this week.

IMO, Starks had one good game and that's just too small a sample to be calling him a good RB. He (as well as the rest of the backfield) did nothing against the Lions. Nance seems to be in better shape, and made some good plays against the Giants.

Sounds like the Pack are trying to motivate Starks to becoming a mature professional, something that's not usually seen in first year players. Maybe he'll use this motivation to play in the playoffs, but I don't think we'll be seeing much of him until next year.
