6th Seed - Green Bay
Wins tie break over NY Giants and Tampa Bay based on strength of victory.

Saints 10 - 6
Bucs 10 - 6
Giants 10 - 6
Packers 10 - 6

Saints 5th seed
Packers 6th seed

Packers win, they are in. I'm trying to find the scenario how we don't get in, just not having much luck.

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs
[ul]1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss
[/ul]
Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

[ul]1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
12. Coin toss[/ul]

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM

If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

[ul] 1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
[/ul]

Two Clubs

[ul] 1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
4. Strength of victory.
5. Strength of schedule.
6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best net points in conference games.
9. Best net points in all games.
10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
11. Coin toss.[/ul]

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

[ul] 1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in conference games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss[/ul]

When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. In situations where three or more teams from the same division are involved in the procedure, the original seeding of the teams remains the same for subsequent applications of the tie breaker if the top-ranked team in that division qualifies for a Wild-Card berth.

If it's a 4 way tie, each team would have 10 wins, 8 conf wins. Still going through scenarios.

Edit, screw this, I'm not gonna go through all the damn schedules for the 4 teams.

I'm sticking with, we win, we in. lol

So as it sits now, the Packers are tied with the Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the second of the NFCs two wild-card spots and the No. 6 seeding in the playoffs. If they beat the 11-4 Bears, who have wrapped up the NFC North Division title, the Packers clinch the final playoff spot even if the Giants win at Washington and the Bucs defeat New Orleans, because that three-way tiebreaker would go down to strength of victory, which the Packers already have clinched. If they tie only with the Giants, the Packers are in because they won head-to-head, and if they tie Tampa Bay, it would go down to strength of victory, which the Packers already have clinched. The same scenarios hold true if all three teams lose next week.

Zero,

You forgot this:

1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.

New Orleans would be out if we have a four way tie for the wild card spots at 10-6.

If that happens Tampa Bay and New Orleans would have split the series and have the same division record so they would go to common games. Tampa would win that tiebreaker. As such, New Orleans is out of consideration to do the first round with Green Bay, New York, and Tampa.

Green Bay wins on strength of victory. You restart the process, don't include New Orleans because Tampa Bay ranks higher within the division and do a two-way tie between New York and Tampa Bay. New York wins that on the strength of victory tiebreaker over Tampa.

Green Bay 5th seed
New York 6th seed

Come on Saints, choke horribly!

The announcers mentioned that there is a scenario that the Packers could win and still not make the playoffs. They said that the possibility of it is so remote not to even worry about but I was just wondering what it might be. Maybe someone smarter than I am could expand on this.

edit: Thanks for adding this to the proper thread Z2C. I knew this would have been commented on but just didn't find it soon enough.

Looks like if we beat the Bears, we'll get the Eagles or Bears. We can't get 5th seed anymore.

If Eagles win out, we play the Bears.
If Eagles lose ONE, we play Eagles.

Who's worried about what other teams are doing? You telling me if the Packers somehow lost to the Bears, you wouldn't want to be able to come here to this thread and find out whom we need to lose for us to get in? You telling me that has no value whatsoever? Fine, don't read it then.

Go piss in someone elses cheerios Frisco!

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
