Derrick Martin comes to mind right away.

Next would be Blackmon.. injured and waived.. and now healthy returning well for the Giants.

Poppinga
Anthony Smith
Burnett
Havner - What he was primarily brought back for..

Shall I continue?

everyone you listed is the freaking problem with special teams not the solution!
Havner was cut!
Anthony Smith never contributed to special teams, weak argument.

Blackmon returned kicks, did not ever make a play on special teams coverage, even weaker argument!!

Really you listed a bunch of under achieving, injury prone players that are a direct result of Ted Thompson and mm selections of player personnel that has come up short over the last six years.

basically, proving my argument
Ted Thompson has failed at adding depth to the team, which is why the team has played so poorly on special teams.

Uh....ok. No depth. That's why, even with the dozen or so players we have lost to injury, we STILL have a shot at the playoffs.
You have to remember, there are only 53 spots allowed on your roster. So it's not like you can just put guys that are great on special teams on there. You have to put players that can do other things as well.
The "no depth" argument is pretty lame, in my view.
Most teams that had the kinds of losses the Packers have had, would have packed it in long ago.
But Ted Thompson sucks.......LOL!

I'd take Dungy over Mike McCarthy anytime!

"dhpackr" wrote:

I don't think there's a lot of people who wouldn't. But the issue is, if we fire Mike McM and go after Dungy, and Dungy decides to stay out of coaching or to go to another team, we'll be left with nothing but our dicks in our hands, and just threw away an above average coach.

what about the other 5 years of poor special teams play....is that to be blamed on injuries also?

i do not feel it is injuries, it is lack of talent added to the team through the draft over the last 6 years.

Lack of talent? You must be high. Go back and look at that list of IR players - then work the gray matter a bit and consider that they've all been replaced by players Ted brought in. Then read the part that says if the Packers win their final two home games they're in the playoffs.

How the hell could they manage that with all the injuries if there was a lack of talent on the team? You're working so hard to find an angle to attack, you're starting to look like some linebacker trying to tackle Barry Sanders and spinning himself into the ground. It's sad.

Blackmon doesn't belong in your list. He's not missed as a returner, nor defensive back. He's not even doing that good as a returner for the Giants.

The rest of the players listed, definitely! Especially Poppinga and Spencer.

If we did not have talent infused onto this team over the last 6 years we would be by far the worst football team in the NFL should anyone consider that we got virtually no talent of any nature through the draft the previous five years before that. You can look it up. It's not an opinion.

There is no way a team can go ELEVEN years without picking up guys in the draft making up a team that could be anywhere close to the team we have. It would be 0-16 and never close in any game let alone EVERY SINGLE ONE.

You're unbelievable...you blame EVERYTHING on Ted Thompson or MM.

Honestly, if you're saying that injuries have no effect on this team, then you're the biggest dumbass I've ever seen.

And you're saying we don't have depth? Well look at our team. Half of them ARE our depth. Starting, and still carrying us to an above .500 record. You give me a coach that could have done any better when they have this many injuries...

Look at the fucking Colts. They are getting hit hard by injuries now, and look how good they've done this season.

Look at the Falcons last year, they were hit HARD by injuries. They completely missed the playoffs. Now they're on top of the NFC when they are healthy.

If you don't think injuries impact a team, then you're just stupid, and looking for a reason to bash Ted Thompson and MM. It's getting old. Real fast.
