The Packers also won close games vs. the Vikings, Jets, and Lions but we seem to forget those too.

Are the Packers the only team to lose close games? Steelers just lost a nailbiter to the Jets today, Giants just pissed away a game vs. the Eagles. It's not just the Packers who lose these close ones. When 2 good teams face each other, believe it or not, they don't both win.

The spread going in was +11 for the Pack, and yet the Packers dominated the game and damn near won. If Woodson can catch a ball that hits him square in the hands, if Walden can catch a tipped Brady ball that goes straight through his arms, if our team can stop a 300 pound fat ass from running down the field...

So in summary, Mike Tomlin and Tom Coughlin need to be fired this week, and since Mike McCarthy needs to be canned, and he only lost to the Pats by 4 points, then Lovie Smith and Rex Ryan need to be fired 10 times over...oh yeah, and the Bucs lost a close one, lets fire Raheem Morris...oh, and New Orleans has 4 losses, lets shit can Sean Payton...how do they lose to the Ravens, I mean, c'mon. They always let the close ones go!

And right now the Packers control their destiny.

So let me get this straight.

Pitt, NYG, Tampa, and NO have similar records as the Packers, all just lost close games in the 4th quarter that they could have won, and all have a chance to make the playoffs.

However what sets McCarthy apart in the "needs to be fired crowd" is...um, well, huh, hmmmmm? Would you care to fill me in here?

Will they, really? You know this? For one, Tampa will NOT be in the post-season - they were eliminated with that loss to the Lions. NYG aren't a lock, either.

if it's not the buccs, it is another team to miss the playoffs. no, nyg (or phi), tb, gb, 2 of them will be out, that's a fact regardless of what you think.

So we can now pass off our own presumptions (which are statistical reaches, might I add) as fact, eh?

Well on that note, the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl, which means Pete Carrol for Coach of the Year...and since Pete just won the Super Bowl and Mike McCarthy didn't, to Mike McCarthy I say...

There are so many threads talking about basicaly the same thing i really don't know where to post.

So I will put this here, if it needs to be moved so be it.

My opinion and notes after watching Sundays game live, then breaking it down on Monday and Tuesday.

1. Matt Flynn is an NFL qb, it is good to know that he will be there to back up AR.
With experience comes knowledge.
I sure hope Aaron Rodgers can play against The Giants, but if he can't go, I have no problem with Matt Flynn subbing for him.

2. Football is a game of tendancies/stats.
The absolutel most important stat is the turnover ratio. A team that wins the turnover battle if very likely to win the game.
The reason New England has won 6 in a row, the 1st 5 quite convicingly is that they don't turn the ball over.

The Packers outplayed New England Sunday night, the one turnover proved huge.

3. Football is a 60 minute mentally tough game.
Ask any coach, they can forgive the physical error, it is the mental errors that will drive them crazy and cause them to lose their job.

I hate calling out players, but will do it tonight.
James Jones absolutely quit on his route on the NE interception, if he does not stop, maybe the pass is incomplete, but not intercepted.
All I ask as a fan is that a player goes 100% all the time.

The entire kick-off team fell asleep on "The Return" after Packers took the 17-7 lead.
I will stick to my earlier posts that the play was an absolute fluke, but there were plenty of Packers who had a shot at the guy and did not bring him down.
Packers defense came real close to holding The Pats to a FG try. Next time let's get the guy down outside the 20 and give The D a chance.

Every game has It's "moments", some come early in the game, some come late, but they all have a direct impact on the outcome.

Woody dropping a sure int., I was shocked, he usually makes that play.
Pats took advantage and scored.

Jordy Nelson dropping a pass on 2nd and 17, the play wasn't a sure 1st down but would have at worst made it 3rd and 2.

The next 2 I have already addressed above(return and pick 6)

Even after all these "moments", Matt Flynn listened to Mike McCarthy and drove The Packers the length of the field scoring a TD and taking back the lead 24-21.

Pats go 3 and out, Packers go on another long drive eventually ending up with 1st and goal the 2 yd line.
"Moments" people, Mike McCarthy to predictable here, Kuhn once up the middle I can see, not twice.

Give the Pats their due, they made the stop on the goal line, whereas The Packers could not do the same earlier.

I guess I will quote "The Great One" when summing up my feelings of this game. "We didn't get beat, we just ran out of time"

Packers lose the next 2 games, then everyone starting with Ted Thompson down to the "get back " coach should be fired, but I don't think The Packers will lose at home, so my opinion is mute!!!!!

Go Packers!!!!
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

I would go so far as to say that not only am I comfortable with Matt Flynn starting the game, I'm almost more comfortable with him starting than Aaron Rodgers, for two reasons: 1) After his last concussion, Aaron Rodgers had two or three weeks of subpar performances; perhaps his resting last week will prevent that however. 2) More to the point, I think Mike McCarthy calls a better game with Matt Flynn at the helm, giving us a better chance to win. With Aaron Rodgers in, we're more likely to see nonsense deep bombs on third-and-1. In terms of sheer talent, Rodgers gives us a better chance to win; I'm just not convinced Mike McCarthy makes optimal use of him.

While I agree with you, I think that he will change is play calling to more of something like he did against the Patriots.

He realizes that if we actually commit to the run, we can have success. Also it would take some pressure off of Rodgers coming off of his concussion.
