The field is too hard!

The playing surface at TCF Bank Stadium is "as hard as concrete" and "unplayable," Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe tweeted Sunday afternoon after a brief practice there.

NFC North blog
ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert writes about all things NFC North in his division blog.

Blog network: NFL Nation

Despite skepticism from both Vikings and Chicago Bears players last week, team and University of Minnesota officials have expressed confidence that the field would be in acceptable condition for Monday night's game -- even after a mad scramble to clear 20-inch snow drifts from the field this week.

But after Sunday's practice, Kluwe issued a series of tweets that predicted the game would be a "trainwreck."

Kluwe: "The field is as hard as concrete an hour and a half after they took the tarp off, and anyone that hits their head is getting a concussion. ... I find it interesting that the NFL can claim an emphasis on player safety, and then tell us the field is fine. It's beyond hypocritical. ... I can only hope, however unlikely, that no one gets catastrophically injured at the trainwreck that's about to take place tomorrow night."

Via Twitter, Kluwe said he had been asked to stop tweeting about the playing conditions.

Sunday's practice was closed to the media and there was no immediate reaction from the team.

This type of p***y bull s**t pisses me off to no end.

Did they give a damn about heating coils during the ice bowl? Did we give a damn about heating coils under the field at recess? No real men played in the NFC Champ. game, and real men played pick up football whenever they could at the age of 6. Good Lord, grow a set!

I know. I've been bitching about these players for the past 2 or 3 days. Fuckers can take off to LA for all I care at this point.

God damned pussies.

I still don't understand how you can dump millions literally millions into an outdoor stadium in Minny and not add heat coils and such for frozen weather conditions. Doesn't Lambeau have those heat coils in it?

Interesting enough, sat next to a guy on the plane back from WI last week. He claimed that the deal for the new stadium in LA is a done deal, 4 difft adjoining cities to share revenue and costs. All agreeing but one landowner who is sueing. Plus, said that stadium developer and Zygi are BFF.

Don't know how much of that is BS and how much is already public. Surely, this Dome situation will force the issue some.

Minny was built just for the college and they are done in November, no need for coils..

Besides it wasnt the UM job to make sure their field is good enough for a NFL stadium

Because it wasn't built with the intentions of NFL teams using it. How many northern schools have heating coils under them?

Deep down I hope this is wrong.. But like I said at PP.O.. IF the state keeps the Vikes and they get a new stadium deal done (however it's paid for), I will NOT go to a game if it's an indoor stadium. I'd rather have an outdoor stadium that doesn't sell out (read: blackouts) than an indoor one that does sell out.

While they are beautiful buildings, Ford field and Lucas Oil stadium have an atmosphere that reminds me of a hospital. I don't want that shit.

Edit, going off your last post, it appears you have a Wisconsin education, you prefer open stadiums as well.

Here's hoping that Minn whiners and Chicago whiners play a 75-minute tie tonight.

Afterwards, they can call their mommies and complain about being cold.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
