Block Party!: Karl Brooks' Blocked Field Goal Saves Packers at Bears 



I'm struggling to remember such a bold statement from a GB ST coordinator in my lifetime. Usually when you read a quote like that with the Packers and a blocked kick, it's the other teams ST coach.

Eberflus filed a complaint with the league. He says we should have been penalized for not allowing the long snapper to pick his head up after the snap.

I don't follow ST rules, but to McAfee's point, the last time I heard an announcer address it, nailing the long Snapper was illegal, but maybe they've calmed down on that.

As last I remember it, John Madden was complaining that one of the Packers DTs (maybe Corey Williams) was flagged simply by lining up across from the LS, while targeting the OG.

And Madden was pissed as the DT didn't touch the LS, just lined up across from him and then attacked the OG. The what the DT did was legal for the intent of the rule, but just the wording of the rule was poor.

Of course they have probably changed that since and maybe since McAfee played.

I believe the rule is the DL must line up outside the long snapper's shoulder.
