There is so much that goes into an NFL game plan. Not having a call ready for Matt Flynn is tough, but it is hard for a backup QB to come in and have a play ready to call. Flynn clearly had no idea what to do. He looked right to the sideline immediately for help. It is really nobodies fault. Terrible luck is what it really is.

The worse possible scenario unfolded for the Packers in the final minutes. There was a sack because of Byran Bulaga or Josh Sitton. I agree with Cris Collinsworth. I think it was Bulaga not making the right assignment. Then you have a perfect pass to Donald Driver, who comes up about a yard away from the first down. In fact, it is short enough that you cannot have a measurement. I hate to say it, but if Driver just stretches for the first down, he probably forces a measurement at the very least. That stops the clock and allows the Packers to get a play in with more time remaining.

Tough, but win the next two games and I think they'll make the playoffs. New York, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay losing helped the Pack out a lot today.

[quote="digsthepack"]How many starters out...and still competing? Thank Ted Thompson for that. You want Favre back too?

Anyone can compete, did we win??? Enough said. Glad to see Mike McCarthy hung our QB out to dry with the last play, SINCE WE DIDN'T HAVE ONE CALLED. NICE JOB. I guess that is what you do with backups, just compete Dig?

You expect 3rd string players to go out and beat the best team in the NFL? And you really need to give credit where credit is due. Mike McCarthy called a great game and had us in position to win.

Get Favre out of your ass whole,

Why should I, when your boy F%&KED the end of the game for the backup QB.Maybe Brett could've atleast given Flynn a heads on what might happen and do this, but since Mike McCarthy never played he could not find the right play on the color coded chart he carries for Flynn. Mike McCarthy hung is QB out to dry. WOWO

Funny, you can only complain about 1 play because you know he called a great game and had a great game plan. Face it, you love Mike McCarthy deep down.

Anyway, I'm going to bed, tired of arguing with a fence post.

Porky, he's a professional player. He looked as confused as a 7th grader out there. Why wouldn't he just yell at the guys to get their asses on the line and just go for it? Everyone knew they had only one option anyway -- and that was to go for the end zone.

That being said, the title of this thread makes no sense at all. Short of a catastrophic collapse in the last two games, the Packers are essentially a lock to make the playoffs.

Someone should make a GIF of Peprah slapping the guard carrying the ball on that return though. Or of Shields playing two-hand touch on the Patriots' first TD. Those plays were laughably bad.

I think the confusion was whether they could get two plays off. My guess is that Flynn was think about whether there was enough time to snap the ball and throw a quick out for the first-down and then have another shot or two at the end zone.

Again, Green Bay has a timeout left and they can call it there. They then have three plays left in them. Even a measurement gives them an extra play. It really was just terrible luck. I guarantee you that when Donald Driver looks at that play; hell think to himself that he should have stretched for the first down. Watch him stretch next week if it is even close. I bet he will.

Im not blaming him or Flynn. As I said before, this was just awful luck for Green Bay. That final 50 seconds is a microcosm of Green Bays season. What could have been.

You can point the finger at McCarthy and Flynn all you want, but you can't give up sacks on game winning drives!!!!!!!!!

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
