So what if they start Rodgers and he gets his bell rung and he's out for the remainder of the season? What then? You can't make me believe the offensive line is going to be magically better this game, especially since it hasn't been good in any game this year. I guarantee Belichick's defense is going to be gunning for Rodgers all day and the only way he survives is on his feet, which only increases his chances of hitting his head again.

Why risk the long-term stability at quarterback for a victory that only marginally increases the team's chances of making the postseason -- and is only relevant if the Bears lose two of their last three?

I'm not a big fan of honor. More often than not, honor is a loser's rationalization for getting his ass kicked. I'd rather be pragmatic about this, even if it mathematically reduces the Packers' postseason chances.

So in your thinking we might as well bench Rodgers for the rest of the year because the Giants and Bears fron 4 are alot better than the Pats. I have lost faith sorry to say but I can easily see us losing the last 4 of the season. We can stop the run so we are in deep trouble against the Giants, and the Pats are just unstoppable right now. Look at the teams they have rolled start with the Steelers they were the #2 scoring defense and then they roll the Jets defense and now they roll the Bears defense that was #4 I believe. I think if we go into the last game of the season on a 3 game losing streak we will win because by then the Bears will have sewn up the #2 seed and be resting players. I know I sound like a downer but thats how I see things happening. These are 3 big games and we know the Packers haven't been very good in big games the past few years.

I haven't lost faith. I'm not even chalking this game up as a loss. But for chrissakes, Rodgers just had his second concussion in 10 weeks. Give the man a chance to clear his head.

Am I the only one who remembers the three weeks of abject suckage he put out after his first concussion? Why should we endanger this team's chances of winning the important games -- the Giants and Bears -- in a valiant attempt to bring Rodgers back too quickly?

Non.. you realize if we lose to the Pats and the Bears beat the Vikes.. we can't win the division correct?

Ya, the Vikes, you know...the team that is about to--but has not yet---As of WEDNESDAY...

SIGNED a STREET free agent quarterback, and will be

STARTING him Monday night against the Bears.

Our best shot in this one is if players start freezing to death, and I'm totally good with that. :P

...At least there's a real shot that the pipes will all be frozen, the crappers and urinals will not work, and there is no beer at TCF, and probably no concession stands to boot...

Let 'em all wade in a frozen quagmire of frozen feces and urine šŸ˜›

If Packer fans are gonna be miserable, it is somewhat comforting to know that this game has the real potential to go down as the shittiest experience in a generation for the fans of any NFL team.

Even if the Packers lose to the Patriots . . .

. . . as long as they beat the New York Giants AND the Chicago Bears . . .

. . . AND the New York Giants beat EITHER the Philadelphia Eagles OR the Washington Redskins . . .

. . . AND the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose to EITHER the Detroit Lions OR the Seattle Seahawks OR the New Orleans Saints . . .

. . . then the Packers are in the playoffs.

That is an extremely likely scenario. Unless the Bears lose out, which I don't see happening, the Patriots game is irrelevant to the Packers' postseason prospects; neither beating nor losing to the Patriots affects their odds of making the playoffs in any way. In my opinion, given that they do not have to beat the Patriots to make the playoffs, they probably should not even try. The smartest course of action would be to bench Aaron Rodgers, Donald Driver, Clay Matthews III, and any other starters who are ailing. They should treat this game as another bye week and return the team healthy and rested for the final two games, which ARE must-wins. Doing this would give Matt Flynn some valuable snaps in a real gametime situation against a challenging opponent and improve the teams chances of beating the Giants and Bears.

Considering, however, that we have a coaching staff who was too bullheaded to let an opposing team score when it would have given the offense a fighting chance to stage a last-minute comeback, I don't see it happening.

It seems doable under these scenario's. What irks me is that the Bears seem to always catch teams w/o their QB and in this case not even their stadium for crying out loud and we just keep having guys go down like it's Iwo Jima or something.

They finally got their due against a team that was healthy and hot but they are few and too far between as far as I'm concerned. If Favre doesn't go this will be something like three out of 4 weeks the Bears caught a team without their starter. Lucky pricks.

I think if we play real sound football we have a shot against the Pats. With the Jets moving backwards and NE making every game look easy this will be a tough one for them to match our intensity. This is a place where a team already in and rolling like they are could stumble.

Half of me wants to do what you suggest here and rest guys and the other half wants me to see us go toe to toe and I think it will probably be the later after this last loss. It won't be a devastating loss but it would sure be a HUGE win for the team. Not so much from the standpoint of the playoff picture as much as regaining some mojo.

We lose this weekend.. and the Bears win.. they lockup the division.. which is our best chance of getting in.

We are on the outside looking in without a ton of help.

If we win out.. the Bears game vs the Vikes matters little.. if the Jets beat the Bears and we take care of our business against the Bears.

We need to win out to give ourselves many outs.. not just one.

Yes, you're right -- under the scenario I outlined, the Packers wouldn't win the division.

However, which is worse: To sacrifice short-term success for a better shot at the wildcard, or to bring Rodgers back prematurely in a quixotic attempt to nail the best team in the league, thereby risking the exacerbation of his injury and decreasing the team's chances of beating the Giants and Bears?

Rodgers wasn't back to full speed for at least three weeks after his last concussion. What makes us think he'll be ready to go for the Patriots game and be in any way accurate or reliable?
