I didn't mind the call to much, but would have perferred some kind of play action with a roll out. But people are making it seem like that play cost us the game, what about the bomb to Jennings when he dropped it into the defenders hands and didn't even make an attempt to go back and tackle him.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I don't mind an endzone shot on 4th down normally, but since our defense isn't the most clutch one in the league right now, even if we had scored there we would've left too much time on the clock. I wanted short pass during the game, and in hindsight I still think it's the best option.

That is most definitely a reasonable concern and factor regarding the defense.

We would have been in major "sweat-mode" had it worked, time left on the clock-wise, but my position remains that a favorable match-up potential on the play makes the decision defensable... I'll call it the "total suckage factor" for the sake of this discussion-Our offense was getting their asses handed to them, and we needed a "favorable down and distance" scenario to (hopefully) get a clean play---I'd guesstimate our chances at a bit better than 50/50 on that singular call, and that was probably as good as we were going to get as far as getting into the end-zone, odds-wise, even if we made the first down. Crystal ballin' - but I know what I saw in the offensive suckage dept. preceding.

I don't see the roll-out here with Detroit setting their DE's five yards outside. I think on this Sunday it would have been very difficult to get outside. The DE's could break off the bull rush and the QB would be running for their life. Also, I think from an accuracy and timing standpoint the QB has a better chance to deliver the ball when and where he needs to from the pocket.

It came down to making that last play because the Oline go their clocks cleaned and Detroit never had to do more than bring their front 4. That took away screens because the Lions never had to send their LB'rs and never gave us a chance to make big plays downfield. With the run game shutdown the defenders could play much tighter knowing the QB was going to have to get it out quick.

All the threats our offense presents were stuffed.

Still, another game where one play and it's a W. That's five now. Very frustrating.

I didn't say they were a bad defense, not at all. They're a terrific group. But closing out games is something that isn't their strongest suit.

Can't disagree with you there, Flynn is not a good QB there is no need for that kind of thing, just get the first so we don't lose to a 2 win team... If McCarthy can't figure out how to get this team up for every game and do it before half time he needs to go, espcially with a lot of his play calling/decision making

I don't mind an aggressive kill shot ... and I thought they were going to have one when it was 2nd and 2... but no they go for the first down? ...

Why do you go for a first down on 2nd down and 2? ... you go for the big play because you are so close to the fist down and it's only 2nd down and if it isn't there you check it down or throw it away...

They ran it for a yard on 2nd and 2 which made it 3rd and 1 ...

3rd and 1 you run it or short pass it to stay out of 4th down... or go for the kill shot expecting to run it on 4th down...

But go for the kill shot on 4th down when you're behind? That a bit crazy...

I guess you quit on the play because when the tackle was made, Jennings was in the area. He didn't know it was an INT right away. When he did, he ran after it. But I guess if he isn't in the camera frame he must be having a coke on the sideline.

4th and 1, with time to spare, I'd have rather seen a quick slant, a fake go to hook route or something. Hell, even a QB roll-out to give Flynn a chance to run for a first. I like Jennings on Vasher, but just because Jennings can torch him, doesn't mean Flynn can hit Jennings.

Have to agree with Zero here, what's the old saying, "just keep the chains moving when running the 2 minute offense". There was plenty of time, and Packers still had 2 to's, get the 1st down there.

JMHO but other than the interception Matt Flynn threw, I had no problem with his play, he moved the ball on 3 different possesions, put The Packers in position for their only points, Flynn was not the problem, Mike McCarthy play calling at the end didn't help.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Carter was 9th overall
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (10-Feb) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
