Here's the Link

The Detroit Lions are expected to announce the loss of two defensive starters Wednesday as defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch and cornerback Alphonso Smith are set for season-ending surgeries, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Vanden Bosch, 32, has a bulging disk in his neck, while Smith has a recurrent subluxation of his right shoulder.

Smith dislocated his shoulder on the final drive of Sundays 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Lions signed cornerback Prince Miller off the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad to fill Smith's roster spot.

Smith led the Lions with five interceptions, while Vanden Bosch was second on the team with four sacks.

Tough break for the Lions this week.

I'd like them strong enough to win against the viklings week 17.

Those sound like some injuries that could turn into chronic and even debilitating problems. I hope they get sorted out the right way.

Well, I just read McCarthy's presser for today and he said Woodson sprained his ankle in the screen/deception period. They are waiting to see how bad it is.

Big blow for Detroit. Their secondary is already weak.

I'm not too fussed whether they beat the Vikings though. Every win Minnesota gets the further down the draft board they fall.

Wow, losing a bunch of starters? What's that like?

Per other players.. Woodson didn't hit the turf or needed to be assisted off the field.

Does that mean anything.. probably not.. but a guess would be Woodson can see a potential playoff run ahead if they win out.. and with this career clock ticking.. won't let it pass by if he can go.

I wouldn't be surprised if they Inactivated Woodson either way. This is by far our weakest team finishing out the season, and i'd feel a lot better going without him for Detroit, then have it linger the rest of the season. I can see Rodgers putting on a clinic without Detroit have VB and AS. Yeah it would be nice to have him but with the level of play from Shields, and Williams shadowing Calvin, i'd rather take our chances resting/healing him.
