What happened with PF?
Ryan out of the blue contacted me about building a Packers site, or enhancing this one to great new levels. I didn't quite understand it, until the next day when PackOne informed me "Congrats dude, big day for ya", or something to that effect. Apparently Ryan had made arrangements to sell the site a few weeks prior, but the new owners jumped the gun and took over before expected.
Ryan was very good at keeping his members informed of such changes. He was extremely bothered by the fact they jumped the gun and he didn't get a chance to advise the members of the pending sale and ownership change.
tromadz and PackOne were pissed off about the changes, rightfully so, and went on an effort to inform members to come to this site. Ryan also helped to with a site wide email.
PH gained something like 120 members from PF, pretty much all the good ones stopped going to PF and came here. Primarily because this format was very similar to PF's. We both used the same software.
When the PF site changeover took place, I posted several times to give it a chance-I didn't want PH to blow up with members, I liked the low profile it had and wanted to maintain that. PF admin's ended up being banned on two or three occasions for reasons not explained. Their stole some graphics from PH, denied it at first, then admitted to it and made efforts to tweak the graphics into their own. I say PF is garbage because the ownership cares not about the members, but the bottom line his site nets every month. I find that despicable.
Obviously, I'm bias in this thinking, lol ... but I feel how "I" operate here is how a fan site should be managed. I've never accepted anyone's attempt to donate, never accepted the many (and I mean freaking many) advertisement for cash offers and I never will. I've had family and friends urge me to profit from this site, I don't feel that's right. I'm a fan of the Packers and the only payment I require from the members is steady, honest opinions and to trust my decisions with the direction of the site. And I hope that's not asking too much.
I've only remotely considered one advertisement because I thought it would help members here, but would have declined to accept the cash for clicks proposal. Ultimately I decided against it.
