So did King address whether they have to interview other ethnic groups?

That's just it.......so they have to call some guy in for an interview......even though their is NO chance that they are gonna hire him.
What good does that do for the poor guy that gets called in, wastes his time trying to get a job he has NO chance of getting?
Where does that improve anything?
Again.....it's "political correctness" that accomplishes NOTHING.
Nothing but "feel good" B.S. that accomplishes NOTHING.
If a guy has no chance for a job, don't waste his time.
Discrimination of ANY kind is 100% wrong. But you are NOT gonna change anything with worthless "feel good" B.S.
If a guy deserves a job, he should get it. Skin color does NOT matter.

He didn't mention anything about that, but the rule is very general, so I don't think that would even be a consideration.

That's not a problem. If the guy thinks the interview will be a waste of his time, he doesn't have to do it. I think that does happen sometimes. But it seems that most of them will do the interview just to get their name out there.

Somebody asked Peter King about the Vikings' situation, and he said that he doesn't think they will have to interview another minority candidate, since the whole point of the rule is that at least one minority candidate gets an interview, and they already have one.

I wasn't sure if I liked the Rooney rule when the NFL implemented it, but I think it's turned out to be a good thing. There was an entrenched old boys network in NFL front offices, and the Rooney rule has helped break that up faster without precluding anyone from hiring the coach of their choice. All it has cost the teams is a little bit of time, and minority coaching candidates have stated that it's allowed them to at least get their name out there even when they haven't been seriously considered.

Unless you're the minority candidate that is interviewed for appeasing the rule.

I just can't imagine a GM/Owner saying well you know Mr Black Guy is better than Mr White Guy, but let's hire Mr White Guy instead.

It's not done for positional players, why head coaches?

The Rooney Rule is patronizing and wrong and I see no good coming from it. Point blank, if a coach has talent, he'll get considered. This rule degrades minorities.

So the NFL is going to force the Cowboys to interview other candidates for the position even in the interim is the guy they want, but the Vikings, in the same position don't have to adhere to any mandate because of his skin color?

If that isn't discrimination, I don't know what it.

So do we need to create a rule so that a Caucasian is interviewed before any hire?

That is a lawsuit waiting to happen, in my opinion.

The problem is, HE doesn't KNOW that.
If a team owner has already picked who he wants, but HAS to, by some stupid rule, interview X-amounts of "minorities", he will just call ANYONE in to accomplish that.
If i were black, i'd want to know going in, that the reason i'm being interviewed is because i actually have earned the consideration that will give me that chance.
NOT just because some stupid quota......that's wastes my time.

Not completely related, but I've always wondered how black people felt about the massive deal that was made about black head coaches being in the Super Bowl the year Indy beat the Bears.

The fuss that was made about it, you'd almost think that the perception was that black coaches were fundamentally incapable of such feats, and that it was a surprise of epic preportions that they'd somehow tricked the system in getting to the big dance.

I'd have found it a little insulting as a black person, I imagine.

That's why I called it reverse racism. It's complete discrimination.

I also like whoever brought up other ethnic groups. Why does this rule only seem to apply to blacks?

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
