It's funny how the delusional fans of every team that has coach drama pines for: Dungy, Gruden or Cohwer. What makes you think they would want to take over the shit storm called the Queens?

Dungy said flatt out he's happy not coaching. This ain't Brett you can't send Jackson, Peterson and Rice to his house to change his mind. Besides he can't win without Manning. On the bright side think of all the second chance players you'd get, right out of prison. If he didn't bring the in he'd be a hypocrate.

Cowher is waiting for the Giants job, he's tight with the owners and knows the soup nazi dosen't have much time left if somthing goes wrong. Just short of a superbowl I think the G-men will part ways w/ him due to his age and the fact that his SB win extended his stay. They were ready run him out of town this year as well.

You can have Gruden he can only win with teams built with by other people. Although the move to LA may entice him.

Stupid Viking fans keep this in mind: NO TEAM HAS EVER WON A SUPERBOWL WITH A COACH OR A QB,(starting). THAT HAS WON IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!

So please take your fictisous dreams to a queens board and pine w/ them about a sniff at the lombardi. None of these coaches want to take over your nightmare you'll see.

You know what it is with Gruden and Dungy? Or Billick for that matter? They went to a team that had a strong foundation on the side of the ball that they weren't experts at.

Gruden, the offensive and QB genius went to the Buccaneers, a defensive powerhouse. Dungy did the exact opposite when he went to the Colts. Billick followed the Gruden route with Baltimore.

The Vikings are a bit in the middle on this, since they aren't dominant on either side of the ball right now, but that defense just has to have its pass rush tweaked a little and it's top tier again. It's still holding teams to pretty decent number. Bring in an offensive minded coach like Gruden and they might be going somewhere in the next few years.

That's one of the things that we might've missed on a bit. We went with offensive coordinaters, while already having a pretty potent offense in place. Although the options were limited. Kiffin and LeBeau weren't going to leave their spots, Rex Ryan wasn't deemed ready etc. Maybe Trgovac would've been a nice option.

In our defense, though, we did have the nr. 1 ranked pass defense in yardage in 2005.

Hates - Formo's a good guy and one of our favorite posters here.

This is actually a pretty good discussion. I'd gladly have a post-Lovie Smith topic with Polargrizz if he starts one up.

First things first: I've seen several responses that include Favre in that future scenario, and I'll say right now that I won't truly fear the Vikes until they thank him heartily and send him back to the farm for good. As good as he has been and can be, the circus he drags along with him at this point is bound to drag an organization down. If they keep dragging his old bones out at the 11th hour, the coach doesn't matter.

But I think the organization knows that, so I'll answer assuming there's a different guy in at QB going forward. If they had the sense and the stones to bring in a serious heavyweight like a Cowher or a Parcells type and commit to that person, then I'd be a bit worried. If they're not willing to go that far, then Frazier's as good or better than any other option. At least you know the defense will always be good.

ILike - In defense of Favre, have you seen TJ play? He's a very average QB. Mobile, can avoid some sacks, but misses a lot of throws that Favre can practically complete with his eyes closed. And Favre has a sort of magic to him, like against the Niners last year and the very last game they played. Heck, he almost beat us.

TJ doesn't win those games. I'd bet a lot of money on that too.

But long term, you are correct. That's yet another reason I'm glad I'm a Packers fan and not a Vikings fan. They're going to be in some serious pain when the rebuilding starts next year after Favre leaves.

I think this was a desperation move by Chilly. Almost like a lighter version of selling your soul.

I know who the coach is matters. But really, the players around the coach matter even more. At least thats what i think.
I don't worry too much over who coaches where. I worry more about what the Packers are doing.
And i miss the days when QB's called their own plays. THEY are the ones on the field that see what the D is doing.

Bring in Tony Dungy to run the front office and he'd promote Leslie Frazier to head coach.

I know Dungy has said he doesn't want to coach, but he hasn't said anything about running an organization in a Mike Holmgren czar type of role.

As a Packer fan, that would scare me more than anything.

I think Cowher is as good as a lock to go to Carolina. Unless Jerry Jones offers him a zillion dollars.

I suspect Gruden will have his pick of jobs. I think San Francisco is a good spot for him, as I suspect they'll go back to their roots.

So I'm not sure I'd get your hopes up about a high profile coach going to Minnesota.

Dungy is not an option in the NFL under any capacity other than consult. Watch NBC Sunday Night.
