The better question is who is better to put on IR than Starks?

Who would you cut to make room for Starks?

When you ask these questions the anser is a little more clear.

I think it's more about who we feel we could sneak past waivers onto our practice squad. Nick McDonald is never active so putting him on the practice squad might not be a bad decision unless another team would snatch him up.

I don't see an issue in cutting Nance for him. I'm really anxious to see how Starks would do, one way or another.

I thought that we had to make a decision by today (Monday)? We can wait until Wednesday?

Even though Nance has had more game and practice action Starks has been in possession of the playbook for much longer. The game time may help Nance in the short term but if Starks knows the playbook better it might be nice to ease him back into the game.

The same two cuts that could have been made for Harris. ;)

In seriousness.. if Starks looks the part on the coaching staff, then cut loose of Nance which showed very little in his opportunity so far. He has added little to nothing to this team to this point.

I don't buy that Starks will give us much, he hasn't played in almost 2 years.

My bet is IR.

This situation with our other injuries has created an unfavorable scenario for activating him.

We've been practicing in shells.

I would like to see him activated, but don't think it will happen.

He looks like an ideal candidate for screen plays to me.

He can rediscover what it's like to get tackled next week-- I think we are going back to padded practices. That sucks, experience-wise AND gamble-wise, but my desire is assuming that if it happens, the staff employed informed " inductive reasoning " which we as fans cannot do because we don't have all the information. All we can do is go on what is out there publicly, and right now it doesn't look good for his activation from that perspective.

I guess my short version is that I am forced to just trust our coaches on this one.

I don't see why we can't cut one of the LBer we picked up a few weeks ago. We activate Starks for a week or two and give him a shot on returns. If it doesn't work, we can just pick up the guy we cut.

It still is kind of funny how divided we are over the fate of a sixth round pick. haha

I like Underwood, I want to keep him. I wouldn't be surprised if Robert Francois got cut.

Also on a side note what has Donald Lee done? ... could Havner possibly be an upgrade? I know they cut Havner for Lee but I was expecting more out of Lee if Finley went down... and I haven't seen too much...

The two new OLB have already jumped over Francois in the depth chart. Francois has played OLB and ILB. So I think they should cut Francois or the new ILB.

Beast agree on Underwood, his upside is part of the reason that they let Harris walk this season.. that and Shields.

Ted and Mike are thinking forward to post Woodson and some uncertainty with the Williams situation. With his level of play, Williams is securing a hefty payday in the near future.. and one that may out price the Packers tastes.

Shield, Underwood, Bush and even Lee are the next generation.. and some insurance against Williams holding a ace in his contract demands with a jack showing at this point.

I could be wrong but I think almost all of the Packers FA are RFA other than Jenkins and have no chance of going anywhere with out the Packers cut or trading them.

With no CBA you have to have 6th NFL years to become an URFA which almost all of GB FA have 5 or less (this no CBA thing has seriously helped the Packers)

And even if they agreed on a CBA today (which they're not going to until mid way though the offseason at earliest and probably not going to happen until a month from the season into the season (which sadly I think there will be a hold out or lock out))

But if they did agree on one today I doubt they would force the GM/Owners to use it until next offseason as it's a bit late to start planing for the CBA now...

So tag Jenkins so he can't get away and sign the rest to RFA deals (try to get Williams to agree to a long term deal).

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
