Just for the record, I was the one who questioned whether Rodgers should start. It was hyperbole, just being the devil's advocate. I supported Rodgers this whole time, back even when everyone was saying he was "injury prone" because he played the second half of the Cowboys game that year with a broken foot.
I was just throwing it out there. He needs to pull his head out.

He tweaked his ankle during the Jets game, and he obviously was limping after that, but I hadn't noticed him walking funny in previous games.

Exactly. Problems in his footwork extend far beyond last week's game.

I'd totally forgotten about this injury. Maybe Rodgers' foot problems really are more chronic than I'd realized.

As for his foot mechanics, Greg, I think I'm the only one who's been focusing on them, because for whatever reason, they interest me. I noticed only a couple of plays last night in which Rodgers was limping, but I definitely watched his foot planting (or lack thereof). Rodgers is light on his feet. He definitely doesn't have the traditional windup of the long ballers. He takes a couple of quick hops and throws from his toes, yet despite his relative lack of hip drive, he's incredibly accurate. I sometimes wonder if Rodgers learned how to follow through, would he be able to throw the deepest Hail Mary in the league, or would it totally screw with his accuracy? In either case, I think Rodgers is fast becoming one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league. Yes, he has his bad days, but when he's on fire, the only two quarterbacks who might be better are Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

Rodgers' head really seemed to be in the game today. He was focused; he wasn't distracted. He seemed to be in a genuinely good mood. I wonder if the fog from his concussion has finally lifted.

Two of you have mentioned problems with Rodgers' fundamentals. What are you referring to?

He simply is not setting his feet and following through when throwing.

Last year he was criticized heavily (along with the O-line) for sacks. His end of this was that he held onto the ball too long. It was clearly stated last night, and I agree with this, that he gets the ball out a lot faster when he does not step through with the throw. And how many times has he been sacked this year? 17 times a little over halfway through the season when he was sacked 50 times last season. He had a passer rating of 131.5 last night, and he wasn't stepping through the pass. If it's not broken, why fix it? Sure, he has thrown more INT's this season than last (because I know that you'll mention that as an arguing point), but last season was ridiculous, and we can't expect that to happen every year. IMO, his footwork does not need attention. The only thing that does, and from last night it looks like the team addressed it this last week, is his communication with his receivers. Last night was awesome, Rodgers did awesome, the receivers made catches, and the offense was FINALLY firing on all cylinders. Let's bathe in this moment.

I thought there was one back shoulder pass he threw that Jordy didn't come back on (down the right sideline), but that was it. Much improved.

Yeah, I noticed this and said something about it. I of course was mocked and basically told how stupid I was and didn't know what I was talking about.

Me too! I don't know why Rodgers deserves to be exempt from criticism. IMO Rodgers has a long way to go until he is truly is as good as Farve.

Okay, this is a stupid comment. Everyone take a minute and read what Chutzpah wrote. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Now, we all had many years to watch Favre as a Packer and now we get to watch him as a god-forsaken Viking. Now everyone imagine in your mind what it is like to watch Favre play football. What kind of player is he? What kind of "fundamentals" does he have? What do announcers constantly say about the way he plays?

Favre is the KING of throwing the ball on the move, from his back foot, from he knees, while falling down. I can't remember the number of times Favre HEAVED the ball across his body from side line to side line while standing on his back foot and falling out of bounds. Special quarterbacks don't need to take a long beautiful stride into the throw the way John Kitna does. Chris Collinsworth said as much last night about Rodgers footwork.

Is Rodgers footwork weird? Yeah, but he's good enough that it isn't the end of the world. In fact, it's a benefit. Bringing in Favre to critique Rodgers fundamentals is laughable.

I'm not the only one to focus on his footwork; I never claimed to be. I think I've given the most attention to his foot mechanics though, at least from the angle of whether or not they indicate injury. I think he's playing hurt; other people don't. It's an honest difference of opinion. I just know that I walk with that same sort of rolling hop when I've reaggravated my ankles.
