Here's a timely article by Mike Vandermause in today's Press Gazette. He mentions that Rodgers has the best record of any starting QB since the middle of last season, at 12-4. That surprised me.

Our D is ranked 4th at 17 points allowed.

When you consider all the players that were out that is actually incredible.

We lost the Washington game in the 2nd half after Mathews went out and then again with him out against Miami. I think both of those are W's if he plays.

Considering he's been out, along with Pickett and Chillar, lost is Barnett, Harrell, Neal, Burnett, Poppinga, and Jones, and we haven't even seen Harris, Bigby or Jolly, how these guys hang in every week is awesome.

The roster on the defensive side of the ball next year is going to be unbelievable.

Don't they have to bring Harris and Bigby back within three weeks after coming off the PUP or something rule-wise?

Someone mentioned in the chat room last game that Rodgers' output took a steep nosedive following the concussion. It would be interesting to look at the numbers and see if this can be borne out. Is it possible he's throwing behind his receivers because he in fact is confused and genuinely doesn't know where they're supposed to go?

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010101003/2010/REG5/packers@redskins#tab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-playbyplay

Rodgers statistics through the Washington Redskins game:

Att: 168
Comp: 111
Yards: 1,233
TD: 9
INT: 6
Rat: 90.70

Rodgers statistics after the Washington Redskins game:

Att: 101
Comp: 54
Yards: 778
TD: 3
INT: 3
Rat: 76.26

And since some of you postulated that Rodgers actually suffered his concussion on the qb sneak on the goal line against the Red Skins I looked at the play by play to get the break down of the Washington game as before and after:

Before qb sneak:

Att: 16
Comp: 13
Yards: 149
TD: 1
INT: 0
Rat: 126.30

After qb sneak:

Att: 30
Comp: 14
Yards: 144
TD: 0
INT: 1
Rat: 47.08

If that qb sneak was actually when he suffered the concussion, Rodgers numbers pan out as such:

Pre concussion:

Att: 138
Comp: 97
Yards: 1,089
TD: 9
INT: 5
Rat: 100.18

Post concussion:

Att: 131
Comp: 68
Yards: 922
TD: 3
INT: 4
Rat: 69.58

So I would say, yes his numbers have nose dived after the concussion and that the nose dive is even more dramatic if, in fact, he was concussed on that qb sneak. Then again, maybe after that drive the Redskins made defensive adjustments and since then teams have been copying what they did. This doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it's interesting nonetheless.

If we don't run QB sneaks anymore, that will basically clarify that that QB sneak is when this injury/change occured. I don't remember any sneaks since that play.

Just to be clear, we all know the concussion happened on the interception at the end of the game against the Redskins, right?

I read through a couple Jets forums after the game and a few specifically mentioned this play. While the commentators made a big deal out of it when showing the replay, it would have been tough throw for Sanchez to make. Sanchez was rolling out to his left and Edwards was all the way on the right side of the field running a fly. For Sanchez to make that throw he has to twist and contort his body and then throw a pass across the entire field. I'm not saying it's impossible, we are lucky he didn't try it, but it was still a ridiculous hard throw to make.

Greg - I really hate to say this, but it goes to show that D is more important than O. Chris has shown with his stats that our D rocks when defending against the pass. And pass > run (by far).

We may have a shot with our O continuing to be average and our D continuing to be dominant. It's a team game.

I love O and find watching good defensive battles as about exciting as watch 2 old men play frisbee, but to win games, D is the most important thing. With exceptions of course (like last year's Saints for example). But our D is elite. I don't think there's a question about it. Even with all our injuries we've sustained, we're shutting people down consistently.

So we may finish off this year well and still won't have the stats. That may happen.

I've been saying the same thing. The Packers could be 7-1, although maybe those imaginary wins would've removed some of the incentive for the team to play their best against the Vikings and Jets. And of course it does go to show how reliant our defense is on Clay Matthews. I think he has surpassed Charles Woodson as our most important defensive player, and it's not out of the question that he could be our most important player overall, even more than Aaron Rodgers.

Agreed. It would have been a more difficult throw to make than it looked like, although I thought Edwards was near the middle of the field rather than far to the right. Mostly it would have been hard for Sanchez to even see Edwards when he was rolling out and focusing on the left side of the field.
