Green Bay Wide receiver Greg Jennings never has been shy to plead his case to the officials.

Sometimes after a ball is thrown his way -- whether he catches it or not -- Jennings will turn to the men in stripes looking for a flag.

Packers fans have noticed and they've wondered what it is, specifically, that Jennings wants.

He said Wednesday afternoon that it was not a general issue hes been having with officiating this season. It is based on the situation. And sometimes, the only thing he's after is awareness. He wants to alert the officials to what he sees.

Its really situation by situation, said Jennings. Plus I watch our defense go out there and they get picked on a little bit. And then we go out there. And its like, uhhhh (Jennings looks around), wheres your flag?

It is what it is. Theyre not going to make every call. Thats why theres a lot of guys out there. Theyre doing the best job they can. But Im not going to not help them out even more Thats our job as players and coaches to kind of, look, look, said Jennings, as he elbowed the guy next to him.

To kind of get them to throw that flag once in awhile.

Had to ask: has it worked?

Typically it never really works, said Jennings. If a player runs up and says something, it never really works! Its really a lose, lose situation. It makes you - I guess - feel good. You get them at least acknowledging the fact that something may have happened (laughs)'let me go talk to them when theres a dead ball.' And you just get their explanation and rationale for what took place.

And the explanation isnt so satisfying, either.

Of course not, said Jennings. Especially when the flag isnt thrown. But for a player, its always good to hear what they see and what they didnt see.

I like Gregorious, and if this generates another 15 yard during a game, I guess great, but he does seem especially whinny with the refs of late, which doesn't reflect particularily well on him

Every time I've seen him not catch the ball, he instantly looks at the refs and flares his arms out to say 'what no flag'. I used to look to see contact, but now I just dismiss it as Greg being Greg.

I guess they have to give it a try.
I guess we have all seen late flags come in after a player protests.
Personally I don't like to see it but if it helps the Packers I'm all for it

I think Jennings missed his calling as an NBA player. This behavior seems to be rubbing off on Aaron Rodgers now too. It looks even worse on a football field than it does on a basketball court.

Jennings had one on Sunday where the ball was not catchable and the guy didn't touch him anyway. He threw up his arms, but then stopped. I think it's become a reflex for him to throw up his arms anytime the pass is incomplete.

Jerry rice used to do exactly the same.

It seemed to me at times Rice had to just glance in a refs direction after a missed catch and a flag got thrown. He was the master at it.

If it works a few times you can call it gamesmanship but as said if it gets the pack the occasional 15 yards or more I won't complain.

It does seem like Greg has been doing that a lot lately. As for Rodgers I don't blame him at all. If I were him and only 1 out of my last 5 or so shots to the head got called I would be a bit upset too. Especially considering 2 of them ended up as a concussion and chipped teeth.

I don't know if it's just me but it seems like this year they are calling less penalties like holding and PI. I don't know the actual numbers or anything it's just my observation. If that is indeed the case though IMO it's for the better and the players will just have to get used to not seeing the kinds of flags that they have in the past.

That's just because Al Harris hasn't been on the field. 🙂

All I know is we get called for holding and PI more than we receive. It's part of playing bump and run. Our linebackers always seem to get the flag.

Zero2Cool (2m) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (2m) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (54m) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (54m) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (1h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (1h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (1h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (1h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (1h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (1h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (1h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (1h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (1h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (1h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (1h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (1h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (1h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (1h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (1h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (1h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (1h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (1h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (1h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (1h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (2h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (2h) : Packers will get in
beast (2h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (2h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (2h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (3h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (5h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (5h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (5h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (5h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (14h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (15h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (15h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (18h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
beast (21-Dec) : So far the college playoffs have sucked... One team absolutely dominates the other
beast (21-Dec) : Well even if you weren't positive towards a guy, you wouldn't nessarily want to tell the media that (if they don't know about it)
Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating
