Driver out vs. cowboys

Donald Driver says he's sitting out this week
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 2, 2010 6:16 PM ET
Packers wide receiver Donald Driver says he's going to miss his third game since 2001 this week against the Cowboys.

Driver told Bill Michaels of 620 AM in Milwaukee the news on Tuesday, which doesn't come as a huge surprise. Driver couldn't finish Sunday's game against the Jets and hasn't looked healthy for weeks.

The Packers have a Week Ten bye after the Cowboys game. (Cue the Week Nine bye jokes.) Despite all their injuries, Green Bay is in a terrific position to get to the bye at 6-3, then watch the Bears and Vikings further implode.

As the Green Bay Press Gazette points out, the team is actually in better position than they were a year ago at this time. They need to tighten up the offense, but there are enough easy games left on the schedule that it would be a major disappointment at this stage if the Packers didn't win the NFC North.

Big opportunity for James Jones. I'd like to see him step up.

no kidding. Zombie and I have loved his potential, but he took a huge step backwards v. the Jets.

It is a big opportunity for Brett Swain as well. He looked pretty good in that last preseason game. I'm glad they are resting Driver. He probably should not have been out there at all the last two weeks, though he may have had some value as a decoy.

Yup. Let's see what he can do in a starter role. He did it well in '07.

It was one game--a game in which he was guarded mostly by Derrell Revis. He'll be fine.

I'm glad DD is sitting. Rest that quad for a few weeks and get it right. Hopefully we won't need him for dallas anyway.
BAD EMAIL because the address couldn ot be found, or is unable to receive mail.

Yeah rest it over the bye and come back for the playoff stretch. We won't need him against the 'Gurlz anyway.

Seriously somebody has to step up... Jones, Nelson, Swain or Quarless...

Could be Lee too but I think he's starting down hill...

But even before Driver got hurt... this offense has been missing huge things since Grant and Finley went down... and unlike the defense no one has been stepping up on offense...

I've been waiting for Nelson as he has more talent than Jone... but Nelson just doesn't seem the same... looks like he's trying to be Driver with short quick flash move attempts... Nelson isn't Driver... Nelson need to keep his momentum and fake the cut back with his head and then burn them like he did in college... he can't do the cut back well... just doesn't have the foot skill nor the short quick steps like the other guys do.

Basically Nelson has all the skills... but he needs to play with in his skill set which is different than other... he can't do what other can... and other can't do what he can... but he's still not playing like he could... he need to watch his own college tape...

and that's why Ruvell Martin was cut... he was a 6'4" WR... who ALWAYS ALWAYS looks back corner end zone... and both Favre and Rodgers threw him jump balls at the TD line... and he was never... I mean NEVER ready to jump... he tried to play like he was 6' with speed and quickness...

Got to play with in your skill set...

good analysis beast, although I don't think quarless will be able to step up. As of yesterday, he had a shoulder injury with an unknown recovery time.
