I don't buy into the Favre myth. I also believe Glazer when he said Favre ratted out the team to the other NFCN teams. I feel Favre checked out on us in '05 and only tried in '07 because he knew he was going to try and get out of his contract.

This is not a bash Favre post, it is a response to the idea of booing him. If what I believe is true, there is no honor in him. No reason to respect him. He turned his back on all the honor and glory of 90 years of Packer history and rubbed nasty stuff all over it. Including his own history. I will not respect him for what he did here when he turned his back on it.

I will boo him every time he is in Lambeau. I will boo even his highlights on the jumbo. I will boo if the even think about honoring him at the stadium in any way. If he wants to "stick it" to us, he can just stick it when he is limping off the field after a crushing loss listening to a chorus of boos.

Yes, I would consider forgiving him. If he accepted responsibility and apologized. He won't do that though. His narcissism will prevent him from humbling himself. His borderline personality disorder will tell him he is justified.

I think Brett Favre probably has a lot of emotional issues (if in fact his very indecisiveness is not itself an act), but I doubt any of them are clinically pathological. Having personally known people with borderline personality disorder, one of whom was a previous girlfriend of mine, I question how a man with such a condition could have the strength of will to pursue an NFL career at all, much less maintain such longevity and consistency. Now granted, Brett Favre's quality of play does verge on bi-polar; but then again, so has that of almost any great NFL quarterback.

Favre may well be troubled. I don't think he's mentally ill.

He has unresolved issues with Irv. He transferred them to Ted Thompson because he was safer. Since his unresolved anger was directed at TT, he felt it was necessary to "stick it" to the Packers.

Mix that with the excusing and enabling that everyone else in his life has been doing for him for his entire life, he feels entitled. That feeds his narcissism.

The BPD comes in with the disproportionate reaction to being told no. He sees that as a personal assault from which he is justified in using any and all means to pay it back with extreme prejudice.

I was having a conversation with a relative who is a retired psychotherapist. We were in Minnesota and talking about football, so it turned to Favre and the scandal. This is basically what the conversation covered.

I may have some of the details wrong. I am not the therapist. I may have misunderstood some of it. But this was the gist of the conversation. Narcissist with a BPD.

I don't think he hates the Packers one bit. He wanted to stick it to Ted Thompson. That's it.

Watch the video of him leaving the field. His hugs with Driver were the real deal. Those were as genuine as they get. Donald Lee ran after him and gave him a hug. I don't know if he forced himself to talk to Aaron or not. Maybe he accepts Aaron, maybe he doesn't. I don't know. But he loves Driver deeply. That's for sure.

I'm not going to take sides here. Favre is my favorite player. Ted Thompson is my GM. I root for Ted Thompson and am glad we have him. When this season is done, we should raise a toast to TT. We have 10, yes, 10 people on injured reserve and we're still going to make the Playoffs. If that isn't amazing, you're hard to impress.

But Favre and Ted Thompson got in a fight. I refuse to take sides. I'm just seeing things as they are. Favre doesn't hate the Packers. He hates TT.

I think Brett and Aaron are fine. I don't think they will go fishing together, but I think that they mutually respect each other. I also think they talk more than is admitted. Reason I think this is because Aaron went to Brett's home after the '07 season for dinner. I think they talk but agree to say they haven't spoke to avoid being asked 'what did you guys talk about' over and over.

Good to hear that, Zero.

I'm a big fan of both of them and would be bummed if they didn't get along.
Ted Thompson & Favre, I understand. Favre's a prima donna (of which, I think there's nothing wrong with that - I'm one big time) and Ted Thompson is the employer. People get in fights with their employer all the time.

Because of his BPD, he is willing to stick it to the entire team, the teammates he left behind, and all of the fans because he is mad at Ted Thompson for telling him no. That is what I would call a disproportionate reaction. I didn't say he hated the team or fans. But he just doesn't care how much he hurts who. He just cares about his own personal revenge.

beast (10-Feb) : Then Carter was street racing, where the other car crashed and people died... and other teams were scared to pick Carter for some reason
beast (10-Feb) : I think the Saints traded up, giving their next year 1st to the Eagles, and then they sucked and Eagles got the 10th overall pick
packerfanoutwest (10-Feb) : wtf Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : Getting Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round in 2023 was pretty darn good
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : for some reason i'm thinking of a draft where the Eagles where in the mid 20s and a top player fell all the way to them
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : I think so. I would need to look it up. Think it may have been Carolina's pick.
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : i'm not sure who i'm thinking of now
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : oh fuck me i messed that up
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Carter was 9th overall
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (10-Feb) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : And with a Pass Rush that might as well be on a milk cartoon and no Jaire
Martha Careful (10-Feb) : I cant help but feel good about how well the Packers D played in Philly during the playoffs
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : this game is over
