What the hell everyone keeps telling me it wasn't a INT what's the deal?

The ball didn't touch the ground and Woody took it out of his hands.

Exactly. It was a bad call by the officials. But there wasn't sufficient evidence to overturn the call, apparently.

It was exactly like the Tramon INT. Which didn't get overturned.

The question is, did the WR have possession prior to Woodson pulling it lose. If he did, he would be down by contact. It boils down to the maintaining control through the process.

Personally, I think he had possession and maintained it through the ground contact. At which point he should have been down by contact. But I can see why it was called an INT.

I just watched the first interception which was by Tramon and the WR didn't have possession of the ball, therefore you can not be downed by contact. I haven't gotten to the Woodson pick yet.

But it should be noted that the Jets didn't have a challenge to use therefore we don't know if there was sufficient evidence to overturn it or not.

Maybe I'm wrong and they had a time out and challenge to spare?

Edit, the Woodson pick was in the 4th quarter. Jets, no challenges, and had three time outs. Keller did NOT have possession of the ball therefore he was not down by contact. Unless I understand that rule wrong too.

...it actually wasn't like the Tramon int.

Tramon and the receiver were sharing possession of the ball on the way to the ground so it went to tramon since he came up with it.

In charles' case, the receiver was the only player with anywhere near possession of the ball. He was then down by contact and then charles ripped it away from him.

Why are we complaining about a call that went the Packers way?

Discussion is all good. I am actually thinking about becoming a WIAA official for HS football, so I love looking at the questionable calls whether they benefit or hurt.
