His pressure/hit on Favre caused the first interception.

Yeah, after Favre held it for about 5 or 6 seconds.

the great sack artists were/are the guys with a motor that does not quit. Many sacks come long after the QB should have thrown the ball but the rusher didn't quit and ended up getting the sack.

don't down grade Jones because he got to Brent after 5-6 seconds. That showed great effort on his part. And we didn't want him to get there in 4 seconds.

If you look at just the sacks from Jones.. you are going to be disappointed.

But if you look at his overall game.. especially setting the edge and holding it well.. then you start to see the complete picture on this kid.

Actually, Jones numbers last season indicated he had some value as a pass-rusher. He was asked to drop back in coverage / rush the passer pretty evenly, and showed something. Clay, in most of his snaps is asked to rush, and given his talent you expect results (he has not disappointed). But Jones got results last year too, even if they weren't eye-popping they were respectable in terms of sacks and pressures (I'd cite the exact number but PFF has changed to subscription oriented websites, and I'm too lazy right now to look for where I posted his stats from PFF when it was still free).

This year, however, he has started 5 of the team's 7 games. In the time he has played - outside of last two weeks - he was not setting the edge or holding up at the point of attack well. Last week he was good, and this week he not only did his job but got at least 2 pressures by my count (including the hit that broke Favre's ankle 😃 ). This is what I expected from Brad Jones, not just in terms of terms of run support but also in terms of some pass-rush.

He is finally getting there. As Rock pointed out, he is playing going against a slightly different breed of Tackle. As you also mentioned, 93z, he is coming off injuries. A big issue with him has been his availability, and I believe McCarthy appointed Zombo a starter in large part because of frustration over Jones' availability.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there may certainly be reasons outside of his immediate control for his struggles. That is a fair point, and one I did not consider. He did not do as well as I hoped he would to begin the season, but is certainly turning it on now. That is a most welcome sight to see.

So I suppose my strong criticism of him was a bit misguided, seeing as he managed to fracture Favre's ankle in two places when he hit him. 😃 Huge disappointment was a wrong way of putting it, I now think, but his play had been disappointing. It is finally showing positives now, which is a pleasant sight.

In 2020, on your TV, you'll have the option of switching camera views while watching a game.

The HD NBC.com Thursday Night Football feed already offers this option.

Well, I guess those who were complaining about Brad Jones aren't going to miss him.

I certainly will. At worst, he was an acceptable starter and solid backup.

My word. This is our worst year of injuries since '05. 😞

It's terrible. Every player that gets injured gets a serious one, it seems like.

I'll fill in for Chutzputz: you gotta wonder if McCarthy is behind these injuries. Sure, it makes no sense -- and I get that -- but I'm still skeptical.

William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)Packers linebacker Brad Jones is out for the season following a right shoulder injury that will need surgery.

The Packers put Jones on injured reserve on Wednesday, hours after Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Jones hurt the same shoulder that has bothered him since training camp.

Green Bay has picked up linebacker Diyral Briggs(notes) off waivers and signed linebackers Matt Wilhelm(notes) and Erik Walden(notes) in the past two days. The Packers also claimed nose tackle Howard Green(notes) off waivers to fill Jones spot on the roster headed into this weeks game against the Jets.

Jones, a seventh-round draft pick, was injured against Minnesota. He made the tackle of Vikings quarterback Brett Favre(notes) that left the Minnesota quarterback limping. Favre has two fractures in his left ankle.

beast (6h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (6h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (16h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (16h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (18h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (19h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (20h) : Thank you

Zero2Cool (20h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (20h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (20h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (21h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (21h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (21h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (21h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (21h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
