I don't know if it was spontaneous or not -- Favre is an expert showman with a carefully crafted public persona -- but it's one of my all-time favorite Packers highlights.

The Favre celebration was cool because it looked like it was spontaneous, and it probably was. (A few years ago, I would not have even questioned this, but I don't trust Favre anymore.)

I don't want to turn this into a Brett thing, but this comment here, that's my problem I have internally with Brett. Who he is, really, who is he? Selfishly speaking, I wish he'd retired from the NFL in '08, not just the Packers.

I will start off by saying sorry to some of you, but don't ever question my fanhood until you actually know me or have to live in another town (such as being in Steeler country) and have to put up with BS all the time. I wear my Green and Gold with pride and I get shit for it. But I am old enough to know that some times things are not right and I point them out.

The guy asked a simple question and I tried to answer it for him and right away people jumped on me saying I'm not a Packer fan. To those I still say FUCK OFF, but to others that read it I apologize.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Removing Helmets on the Field During Play -- no player may remove his helmet while on the playing field. Doing so will result in a 15-yard Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. Exceptions are during timeouts and between quarters. (The NFL has done this in an effort to "reduce taunting and overexuberant celebrations" and also "in the name of safety.

I'm just saying it was obvious and should have been 15 yds. You stoop to calling me names because I answered the guys question so be it

Little side note NFL says that the ref was wrong by overturning the vikes td.

What gets me is you point out mistakes by the officials that would hurt the Packers if not called as such. However, when calls are mentioned that didn't go in the Packers favor, that should have, you claim 'excuses'. So yes, I am going to give you a helluva hard time, deal with it. It's like you care more about appealing to the opponents fans, than fans of the same team you root for. I think that's cowardly and weak.

Every game has calls that go our way, and their way, it's just how it goes. Point out both or none at all is my feeling on the matter. What bothers me most is the inconsistency in what is called. It makes it hard to say that was a penalty or that wasn't a penalty.

Fact is, we've been on the wrong end of a lot of calls that the officials the next day admitted to getting it wrong. You don't pay attention to those when pointing out bad calls, yet you're a Packers fan. Puzzling.

Personally I think dhazer wants to see the Packers execute to perfection or he will rip on them. Like a coach, he wants to see them do it right every single time. No excuses. While I understand this, I also realize that they will make mistakes it is apart of the game as does the other team and the officials. I just don't think dhazer excepts that.

You answered it with a very outdated rule that is irrelevant to 2010. Nobody is surprised by this though because we all know you just went out and found the first thing you could that looks bad for the Packers.

Here is what Mike Pereira said about it, he used to be the head NFL rules official I believe.

"Mike Pereira:

Matthews' helmet started to come off when he was blocked, and then he pushed it off the rest of the way so he could see. Interesting enough, it's not a foul, period. It's only a foul if a player removes his helmet to celebrate or to argue with an official or in a confrontation with another player. Therefore, during the play there is no restriction for removing the helmet.

You'll like my answer on this in the Mailbag, which will come later today.

If I had good hair like that, I might remove my helmet, too."

so much for that being a "gift" I guess.

I'd like perfection. I just don't think it's cool to point out every mistake call AGAINST the Packers and when mistake calls are pointed out FOR the Packers to bitch about it and say we're making excuses. Why is a bad call for the opposing team okay, but for us it's excuses?

Packers are like many teams in the NFL, they have flaws, they have injuries, they get calls, they don't some calls, its how things go. It's why you shouldn't get too bent out of shape one way or the other in my opinion. What goes around, comes around.

Packers are a good team that has that dreaded word, potential. we're coming up to the half way point in the season. I'm really interested in how we handle games 9-12 and I think that'll tell us a lot bout our team going forward.
