The NFL seems to be wrapping up its investigation of whether Brett Favre sexually harassed Jenn Sterger when both were with the Jets, and while Sterger is still declining to talk to the league, Favre doesn't seem to have admitted anything that could get him in trouble.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Favre admitted to leaving voice mails with Sterger but denied sending penis pictures to her. In the voice mails that were posted by Deadspin, Favre tells Sterger he'd like to meet up with her, but while Deanna Favre might be curious why her husband was calling Sterger, there's nothing in the voice mails that would constitute the kind of improper workplace conduct that would result in the NFL taking action.

Meanwhile, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the league plans to wrap up its investigation into the matter within the next week or 10 days. Sterger hasn't filed any kind of complaint with the Jets or the NFL, so it's hard to see how the league could discipline Favre when Sterger isn't coming forward to accuse him of any wrongdoing.

So Sterger has a week or 10 days to make up her mind about whether she's going to come forward and say something, or whether she's going to maintain her silence. The NFL appears to be getting ready to move on.

Why be mad. I always figure if someone wants to make a fool of themselves let them but laugh when people caryy some kind of grudge when it really effects them in no way

If I were Favre, I'd deny the pictures too. There's absolutely no way to prove that they're of him. I doubt even a forensic scientist could make a definitive match, because cell-phone pics are so low-res. There's no reason for him not to deny them.

By contrast, a voiceprint analysis could easily make a match on the voicemails, and they aren't all that incriminating, so there's no reason not to acknowledge them. It's sort of like a blocking bet in poker: raise a certain manageable amount so everyone calls instead of raising more than you want to call.

Cell phone pics are low resolution? What the hell cell phone do you have? Get an upgrade yo! :)

I'd deny the pictures too because that's what was offensive.

I've never seen a cell phone pic, even from a fancy-schmancy iPhone, that was remotely as clear as the photos I take with my SLR. It's not about the megapixels -- it's about the lens. And cell-phone lenses suck.

I don't believe you. You're not being honest. How can you have not seen a picture from a cell phone (that serves many purposes) match the quality of a device that is for picture capturing alone?

NO SHIT SHERLOCK! :P

Anyhooters, I do agree with your point that it would be harder to confirm from a cell phone pic vs SLR. I do think you're losing it Rourke. Getting awfully technical, even for you bud. :)

If the pictures are from Brett's cell phone, I'm going to go on a limb here and say it's probably capable of taking some decent quality pictures.

Here's the thing I'm wondering about: Wouldn't there be metadata attached to these photos? Shouldn't that give some idea as to the nature of the phone that took them? Heck, if they were taken from an iPhone, the exact geographical location they were taken at should be included with the JPEG file. I'm surprised no one has delved into the metadata.

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
