Correct not a tax refund. It is a licensing fee/ sales tax reimbursement from the insurance company. Whichever one pays you for your car. Ultimately it will be the other guy's insurance who pays for it but if you are paid for the damaged car by Farmer's they will be the one you send you this check.

Well, good news. Looks like my insurance company isn't screwing me on compensation. They're offering me $4992 for the car (plus sales tax/title transfer fees), NADA's "Clean Retail" was 5200, suggested retail on Bluebook was 5940. Contacted a guy about a car identical to what I had minus 60,000 miles for 6 grand, hopefully everything checks out and I get my check soon 🙂

Good news Porforis. Now, don't mean to be your parent here, but did you get your medical checkup?

Your health is worth more than your car. Literally. Medical expenses could be $10k, or nothing. We don't know. Get checked out before you sign a check.

Seriously considered it but declined due to scheduling issues (Soonest I'll have a weekday off from work is next tuesday), and the fact that I've had no pain or discomfort since the day after the crash (beyond some minor shoulder soreness two days after the crash). Am I being young, stupid, and not playing it safe? Probably. But, I'm young and stupid.

Porforis - I tell this to my son all the time. I tell him "how do you think the you 10 years from now is going to look back at what you're doing?"

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope there's nothing wrong with you. But if there is, the 2020 Porforis is going to be really pissed off at the 2010 Porforis. If there's nothing wrong with you, the 2020 Porforis will say "you got lucky 2010 Porforis but next time get checked out anyway."

You were in a car wreck where your car was totaled. Your boss will understand you taking a few hours off to get checked out.

Okay, okay, I'll go. Might be possible tomorrow or wednesday (preferably tomorrow), but I need to run all this by my auto insurance company first, I left my adjuster a voicemail and am hoping to hear back from her soon. As in, still today.

Also, a question for wpr. if there WERE medical costs involved, would the check for my car come after the final medical cost figure was established, or is that a separate subrogation process? Also, am I using the right term/spelling?

1. I believe you said you do not have medical payments coverage on your current policy so our company will not "care" if you seek treatment or not.
2. As a courtesy they may include your medical bills in their subrogation process but they do not have to. (I have never heard of a company doing so and I have been doing this for 30 years. But I do not closely track every single claim.)
3. The medical bills are separate from the auto loss. I tell my clients to look at the process as 3 or 4 separate claims. (Some companies even give them different claim numbers and different adjusters.)
first claim is your car. second is the rental (if applicable.) third is your medical. last is the liability for the other guy (if you are at fault.) If a person gets paid for medical it does not reduce payment on the car.
4. You used the correct term- subrogation.

hope this helps.

Been a while since the last update but I did go into the chiropractor. Been feeling a lot worse since I started going there (neck/back) but need to trust that they know what they're doing. Other guy's insurance company contacted me and sent me related paperwork, hopefully they'll cover the medical expenses and I don't need to take them to court. Total chiropractic bill's going to be around 900 out of pocket when all is said and done, and my health insurance company may be cutting me off soon as well.

Should be getting my check for my car next week, with all that I've been screwing around with lately I very, very much want the same car I already had... There's a guy I'm meeting with next thursday that has a car identical to what I had (minus 60,000 miles), will be about $1000 out of pocket but praying that'll work out. The rest of the 2003 Malibus around here (what I had) all seem to have 80,000 miles+, and if I'm spending money out of pocket I really want a car that's going to last me many more years.

beast (1h) : 6 days
wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
