I don't believe injuries cost the Packers victories against Chicago and Washington or was the cause for their lackluster performance against Detroit. I think other factors played a role. Coaching, execution and penalties to name a few.

However, you're kidding yourself if you think injuries didn't play a factor today. You're also joking if you think they won't catch up eventually. Today, injuries is the main reason why GB loss this game.

The Packers played pretty well all things considered. They ran a little bit. They threw it well despite the offensive line and Rodgers' problems. Their defense even allowed only two touchdowns, which isn't bad all things considered.

There is no such thing as a bad loss, but this one didn't hurt as much as Washington because I saw growth today. There are still gripes, but they showed some balls in this game. First time all season.

The main reason why GB loss this game was because Ryan Pickett wasn't there to play. He hurt more so than Clay Matthews even. If Pickett is in there, Miami can't run the ball and control the clock the way they did. That was the difference. The Dolphins knew Pickett wasn't playing and they game planned accordingly.
Credit them for being smart, which they normally are.

I think if you want to be the tough guy or gal and proclaim injuries are just a lame excuse, then you're not watching the same game week in and week out as other people.

Yes, sometimes people do blame injuries when there is nothing to blame it on. But this is not an example of that happening, which was the case of last week.

Honestly, Green Bay wins this one with Pickett.

IMO, you're absolutely right that GB would have won with Pickett. He, not Matthews, was the key injury for this game.

That said, I think one thing that kept GB in the game is that Miami had an idiot for a play caller in the second half. Miami is gashing the Packers repeatedly when it runs between the tackles. So what does Henning do? He keeps calling for runs outside the tackles and, especially, for Chad Henne to move the team down the field with his arm.

I think that, had they wanted to, the Dolphins could have had 2 100-yard rushers yesteday.

Frankly, I wasn't surprised that the Packers lost. But it probably should have been worse.

Anyone know how long Pickett is expected to be out?

Think even having Neal would have been enough against the Run. Defense is fixable with bodies returning. Offensive problems IMO are deeper than missing personel.

Pickett's presence may have propelled their prevailing -- he's a big fat one-man wrecking crew. Would it have had MORE of an effect than a healthy Matthews? Ehh. I'm not so sure. I don't think we have to frame it that way, not that I have a problem with it. More than anything, though, it was Henne's half-hour in the pocket with no pressure that killed us. Coulda used the services of a hungry lion (which, I guess, would make Pickett a hungry hippo).
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Doesn't the whole injury thing assume that the team was really good before the injuries?

It'd be one thing if a team is on fire and then injuries hit but we wern't that good when we were "healthier" either. Now this injury thing just masks our weaknesses. Because things get blamed on injuries rather than on play or coaching.

For example Bears game, injuries had nothing to do with the intentional grounding, Jones fumble and then Mike McCarthy wasting timeout with that challenge.

Or having the ball three times in OT over two games to win and you lose both games - even with injuries, you expect to score at least once in three OT possessions, you just need a FG. Come on maaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

I'm proud of the team that played today. I'm still annoyed by key drops, breakdowns along the o-line (Bulaga got handled today), and pre-snap penalties. Who wouldn't be? But today, in my opinion, was lost in Green Bay's inability to get after Henne and also to give Rodgers more time.

I didn't perceive a lack of effort. I thought it was gutsy in lieu of the injuries. And let me be clear -- the injury argument isn't one (an argument). It isn't an excuse, but it sure as hell is an explanation. The backups are backups because they're perceived by the coaching staff as lesser players. It's unreasonable to expect we'll play better with worse players.

Agree with the point that injures hurt us yesterday but the other loses are on other things.

I am proud of the effort yesterday. Many people nationally and here said we would not be in the game. That was proved wrong and we damn near won the game. I am encouraged by the game yesterday as we played a decent team close and we will be getting the pup players back very soon!

Great points. Pick was a huge miss this game. I'll further argue that if Matthews and Neal had been in as well the Pack would have walked away with that game. Pick kills runs dead, and Neal + Raji + one-handed Jenkins + Matthews + a small piece of lint would have destroyed Miami's o-line. As it was, they played a lot tougher than most will give them credit for doing.

The O has to score more points. The D did its job.

We need to score more points, especially at home.
