I'll have to see if I can catch the NFL replay this week and watch AJ specifically. I get that a 3-4 defense relies on a great front three to take the work off of the LBers, yet there was one blow pass play for a 3rd and 10 (I think on the first series at mid field) and for the rest of the game if our D couldn't detect an obvious running play, then AJ is standing his ground seven yards deep.
I'm not looking for Hawk to be the next Ray Lewis. I'm looking for him to make me go 'wow!', maybe once a game. Williams' interception... Collins' deep pass broken up, Jones' D on the bubble screen. Woodson stalking the line on a right side running play. He doesn't need to dance around like a damn fool after a tackle. I'd just like to see his reading and reacting to his benefit.
I'm no football expert, all I do is watch the game. I have no problem sounding like an idiot and will be happy to learn along the way. It's why I post on this forum. The members here know a lot more than I ever will. You guys make the Packers' games more enjoyable. I do apologize for my post game rant about asking why it isn't AJ that got injured. I would however rather have seen our LB core with him as the LBer who missed a few weeks because I still believe that they would better.
I'll see if I can steal an hour this week and catch the NFL replay and focus on Hawk. If I do, I'll share results and what I'm seeing and when. I'd love a further education on why an LBer who loses ground after initial contact to a ball carrier is considered good/acceptable.
I know that AJ isn't our weakest link and he's not the reason that we're losing close games, yet win or lose I am questioning his performance. As previous posters said, it's probably just that I need an education on what is really going on in the middle of our D.
