I don't get "rap".
Maybe it's because anyone that can talk, can rap......unlike singing, which takes real talent.
Plus, the vast majority of rap is negative. Killing, drugs, rape, "bitches and ho's" and such.
I don't find that entertaining at all. It glorifies the whole "gangsta" lifestyle. I see so many kids dressed like that, that act like that, with no respect and manners. Is that really what we want kids to look up too? Sadly, many of them don't have a man (or woman) in their lives TOO look up to.

There's a lot of positive rap out there Cheesey you just need to know where to look. And also, rapping is not that easy. Singing is pretty different from rapping in that singing involves musical notes and melodies, etc., Rap is all about flow and lyricism. I've done my fair share of rapping and
it's hardly good . I'm better as producer, working in the studio. My lyrics tend to get vague or too philosophical. Check out
Parallels or Illustrations of Nothing .
I'm into more jazzy hip-hop now instead of just rap because of the whole "ghetto thug" fetish most rappers seems to have. Think of Nujabes (RIP Jun Seba).

Here's a good one by Headnodic (producer from Crown City Rockers) feat The Procussions

Or possibly the Globetroddas

Lots of good stuff out there if you know where to look :)
Sorry to get this topic so off track. About Eminem--I never really liked the songs on his CD's where he beats his wife but that's a part of his appeal; he takes subject matter that no one dares mention and makes it the focal point of his lyrics. Him and Dre have been great together for years and I own 4 Eminem albums, love them all. I don't necessarily agree with him all the time but his got great flow and amazing beats.
