Packers WR Greg Jennings, he of the 14 catches for 183 yards in the first five games -- two in each of his past three games -- finally spoke to the media on Wednesday and admitted he's frustrated with his lack of production.

"Im not going to say Im not frustrated," Jennings said. "Frustrated, thats probably an understatement, honestly. You get frustrated in the game of football. You definitely get frustrated. Opportunities can be misconceived sometimes. Targets they can be targets but they cannot really be targets. Its a game where, when you get an opportunity, youve got to make the best of it. Were going to make it happen. Were definitely going to make it happen."

Jennings admitted he let some of those frustrations bubble over on the sidelines of Sunday's loss to the Redskins. He wouldn't say exactly what he did.

"I got frustrated during the game," he said. "I was a little out of character during the game. Its because of the competitive nature. Ive never been an I, I; me, me kind of a guy. My guys know that. The team knows that. When youre not able to perform to your level and you have really no control over it, it is frustrating. At the same time, Im going out there every single play, competitive every, single play, regardless of whether the balls coming my way or not, making sure that Im perfect in my assignments and Im sound in my assignments and performance, and when I do get the opportunity, Im able to make the plays and not let my lack of production distract my performance.

"I didn't even go to anybody. But it felt good, honestly, I'm not going to lie. It felt good to relieve some of that built up tension because I never really do that. You know, I apologize. I had to tell Jimmy (Robinson), my coach, 'My fault Jimmy. It's not you, it's this game of football.' And being a competitor you get kind of caught up in the game and get caught up in your emotions and they get the best of you sometimes and I definitely let it get the best of me on Sunday. But I'm still out here, still smiling. I'm still going to compete each week and each day that I'm out here in practice."

Greg Jennings has been targeted 31 times, caught 14.

That only averages out to about 6 targets per game, but still -- he's caught less than half of the balls thrown his way. Maybe if he kept his mitts on the ball, he'd get more opportunities.

I don't think he's had that many drops this year. I remember three interceptions that I *think* he could have outbattled the DB for, but I could be wrong.

Packers' Jennings vents frustrations

Green Bay Frustration finally set in for Green Bay Packers receiver Greg Jennings in Sunday's overtime loss to the Washington Redskins.

Jennings apologized Wednesday for some sideline antics during the 16-13 loss and said he did the same to receivers coach Jimmy Robinson.

"It felt good, honestly, I'm not going to lie," Jennings said. "It felt good to relieve some of that built-up tension because I never really do that. You know, I apologize. I had to tell Jimmy, my coach, 'My fault, Jimmy. It's not you, it's this game of football.'

"And being a competitor you get kind of caught up in the game and get caught up in your emotions and they get the best of you sometimes, and I definitely let it get the best of me on Sunday."

Jennings wouldn't reveal exactly what he did to feel the need to apologize. But since he never previously exhibited diva qualities like Terrell Owens or Randy Moss, it was likely benign.

Still, Jennings isn't exactly thrilled with the state of the passing offense or his role in it, even though he ranks second on the team with 31 targeted passes, according to STATS LLC. Donald Driver has 24.

Jennings' 14 receptions tie him for 79th in the NFL.

"Frustrated, that's probably an understatement, honestly," said Jennings. "You get frustrated in the game of football. Opportunities can be misconceived sometimes. Targets - they can be targets but they cannot really be targets. It's a game where, when you get an opportunity, you've got to make the best of it. We're going to make it happen."

Jennings certainly has a right to be frustrated. He has just two receptions in each of the last three games. He had three in the second game against the Buffalo Bills.

The only other time Jennings, who was given a three-year contract extension through 2012 worth $8.75 million annually, had nine catches over four games in his career was at the end of his rookie season in 2006. He had 10 catches the first four games last season.

"I was in the same situation last year," Jennings said. "I'm kind of starting to get too familiar with this area, but it's all a part of the game."

In '09, Jennings had 23 receptions in the next four games after his drought.

Coach Mike McCarthy doesn't think Jennings is lacking in opportunities.

"I don't look at it that way," McCarthy said. "We have moved Greg around. He is playing inside and outside and we'll continue to do so. These are actually good issues to have on your football team when you have a number of players that can be productive with the football.

"It's really the responsibility of the quarterback just to run the offense and throw it to the open guy. We'll continue to make sure that schematically we are creating enough opportunities for Greg and Donald and the rest of the perimeter."

The case is certainly there to be made that quarterback Aaron Rodgers should make it a point to find Jennings.

In 36 games, including playoffs, since Dec. 23, 2007, the Packers are 6-10 when Jennings has three or fewer receptions. Four of those victories were against Detroit and Buffalo this season, St. Louis (1-15) last season and in the meaningless '09 finale at Arizona.

The Packers are 12-8 when Jennings has four or more receptions.

"You have to keep perspective and realize that it's all about the unit," he said. "And the better the unit is, the better the team will be."

Frustration is expected. I bet you ask any player on the team and they are frustrated. I think it was about this point maybe a game earlier that there was talk about where Jennings was that he wasn't producing and Driver was.

Well that changed later on. The entire reason for having these guys is so a team cannot take 1 away and destory the offense there are still the rest of the gang and Rodgers has spread the ball around pretty well. Frustration is expected.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Some will probably agree without thinking much into it, but I think I'm kind of twisted. I say this because reading the comments the players are saying is somehow encouraging me. I read quite a bit of articles and in most I'm reading quotes about players being frustrated, upset, disgruntled, annoyed, etc about their over all play. It's the first time this season I've read quotes that didn't have things sugar coated with 'maybe i should have switched hands on the sidelines' or 'i might have held the ball to low' ... no maybe's, no might have's ... its just flat out, frustration and it needs to change is the vibe I'm getting.

I like it. I think our offense breaks out this week or next week or at the very least shows dramatic identity improvement.

I'm on the fence. 50% of me agrees with what you just wrote zero...that at least they're finally showing some sort of fire (misguided as it may be) and it also reminds us that even w/o Finley, this team has a ridiculous amount of weapons on offense.

The flip side, is the me-me-me side of things. Greg maybe should have more opportunities, but he's been outmuscled for some balls vs. awful corners (see detroit game), had a few drops, and has been underwhelming himself, so he needs to 'put up' a little more and shut up.

Not to side track this thread, but I think it's a little past tense to say Detroit has awful corners. Are they great, no. Are they awful, no. They are talented and perform above awful, that's a certainty.

Greg should out muscle other CB's for the ball, I agree. But his lack of height makes it a bit more difficult.

The Lions had terrible CBs until they picked up Alphonso Smith. Somehow the Broncos coaches missed the fact that the dude can play his brains out.

I wasn't saying that Jennings has been dropping balls, merely that he hasn't been coming down with the balls thrown in his direction.
