So he knew he was hurting the team but still wanted to be the guy

I don't know if you know what it's like to be a competitive guy, but that's what we do. I played WR in high school. I broke my thumb the week before my first start. I had my hand taped to hell. Obviously I wasn't gonna catch many balls, unless I one-handed them.

But I'll be damned if I wasn't gonna play.

But I wouldn't expect you, or anyone else, to understand that.

I am competitive played all sort of sports growing up..I was awarded most dedicated lineman 2 years in a row cuz I played with injuries and practiced..but I was not HURTING the team

He admitted in other articles sometimes he didnt know where the ball would go..

Thats not being a team player in my eyes

He should have sat down cuz he knew he was hurting the TEAM, I dont care how strong his desire to win or be the guy is/was, he was hurting the team..

It's a HUGE difference between being a "competitor" and being selfish.
If you are a pro, you HAVE to be smart enough to know when you are NOT playing well, and are hurting your team.
And if you arn't mature enough to sit down and give your TEAM it's best chance to win, then you are just being selfish.

I love all this shit about hurting the team. Who was the other real option at QB? I would put Favre in the game injured before putting in Pennington's backup! :pukeright: His play was hurting the team, but it is not like they had anyone better at the position.

Correction. He should have BEEN sat down.

No fucking athlete (especially at the highest level that the NFL is) is going to say, "Hey, I'm out" unless it's a career ending type injury.

Next topic.

No Alan. Sorry, I don't bite this. That move was NOT selfish. Chances are, Favre played more hurt in GB and did just fine. He just figured he'd play through the pain. Obviously hindsight is always 20/20 and he should have been sat down.

But like I said in response to LTF, no athlete is going to sit himself out unless he knows without a doubt that either he can't move (running, etc) or if it's a career ending type injury.

Favre had 20 years in the NFL level of football, and countless other years in playing the game. Players, especially the elite, are molded to play hurt ALL the time. And it always starts at the young age (for me it started in 7th grade) when coaches have the biggest influence on molding a kids mind.

Favre was ONLY doing what he's done for 30 years of his life. It just didn't work out for him.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
